Does this Terraria weapon make the game too easy? The Onyx Blaster. In this video, I take a look at this early Hardmode powerful ranged weapon which can be crafted using basic materials from the hallowed and underground corruption/ crimson biome. This weapon has been incredibly good since it was introduced and makes me question if it is in fact a little ‘too’ good.

Hey sockrteez I have a question. In some of your videos (like your horseman’s blade video) I see the weapon doing thousands of damage in one hit like 1000 damage crits. Is this a build or is this a mod or some kind of journey mode window.

The onyx blaster is my favorite terraria weapon period
and then calamity makes it into a minigun
The onix blaster is my go to weapon when I'm stuck on a boss

onyx blaster legit carried me in my master mod playthrough
in my experience the onyx blaster is quickly outclassed by post mech gear and against plantera would be agonizingly slow

There is definetly a mod that makes the onyx blaster shoot Pokemon onyx lmao.

0:51 same. I got a Mechanical Skull drop before i got a Dark Shard lol. Edit: i literally used this to kill the mechs, plantera and golem. Also, it literally shredded Plantera faster than a True Night's Edge (same with golem and mechs)
I used the Onyx Blaster recently on a ranger playthrough, I love the explosion and the way it attacks, definetly a really good consistent weapon for Hardmode.
Idk how people like the onyx blaster, since I've never liked it and have always chosen literally any other weapon over it.
looking back to few clips and i just get this hard cringe when ever i see people using chlorophyte bullets
Like aiming in terraria is not hard and nerfing your own dmg just to get homing bullets is not really worth it

Personally I think it should be more expensive, perhaps requiring illegal gun parts to craft. Crystal bullets would be my choice for this

Shotguns is general are really good, from the broomstick to the tactical, they never seem to be bad
I look at all these vids and just wish any of these weapons were viable anymore in Master mode. Everything just sucks in that mode. Everything.

It totally sucks in master mode. Too little damage
I remember using the pre nerf version. The thing basically carried until the Pillars.
I prefer to just use dadulus storm bow until I defeat destroyer when I would usually switch to mega shark (pre boss for single target clockwork and onyx are good for mimics and general use) then i would take out skeleton prime with said mega shark then i would get my favorite carrier the flamethrower that combined with the long range mega shark Carries through plantera which is when I will get the elf melter and any dungeon gun to defeat duke fishron
I use the onyx blaster a lot. It’s good and useful.
On my first playthrough i got to a point in the game, i think pre plantera where i didnt know what to do.
I ended to going to my guide and seeing this. I thought it looked cool so i made it (taking a while to get the shards) and it was incredibly useful
How do you get both Crimson and Corruption in the same world?
Btw the onyx blaster got nerfed again its base damage is now 25 compared to the 52 we see in the video
The disappointment of realizing console didn't have this weapon yet is so relatable
Can confirm is op, beat duke fishron expert mode pre-mech using this, a dart pistol to apply ichor, the queen slime mount for mobility and the sergeant united shield in order to "not sugarcoat" the third phase.
Infinite bullets = Infinite fun
