I love mounts. The bee used to save me during skeletron when I was bad. The slime was great for cuthulu and brain too. Witches broom is amazing for an extra accessory
The black spot is super easy to get if you farm it right. I just take my hard mode character and take it to a master mode world where I can build a simple bunker with a lava trap. Use the shadow bow while holed up in your bunker to take out the flying Dutchman.
Who needs that when you have a jagged soaring insignia basically giving you infinite wings for an infinite amount of time and 0.000000000000000000000000000001 more damage so it’s the most op item in the game
It's a shame that they nerfed mounts to not stack mobility buffs from accessories, they kept the double jump capability but you used to be able to make them much more mobile with accessories.

I will be honest, I did a no flying run with my friend and the Scutlix was a godsend (we played Expert, go for the Santank on Master) the lasers added a nice amount of damage and the high movement and jump height meant that we could ignore the speed boots and use offensive and defensive accessories. Tip: if you want to be able to stay on your mount basically 24/7, use the tall gates instead of doors, they go 5 blocks high instead of 3 and NPCs still count them as doors for housing.
