hmm well one options is to design the character after anime – game – other people since there are a LOT of vanity's in game . . . tough i use the hunter cloak 95% of times in the game since it's just look too good

then there are people who spend hours creating a character that look exactly like them, but end up wearing a vanity that cover the entirety of their face
I make my avatar fully black and then name it My butt so it says My butt was torn off by a zombie
I always randomize characters, tweak them a bit, and give them a name with an alliteration based on the class I want to do.
Types of players when it comes to character creation:
– Default. Just takes the default character option with no changes.
– Self-Insert. Tries to make their character look like themselves. Daring today, aren't we?
– Mary Sue. Tries to make the character look like their OC. Sometimes mistaken for Modern Art.
– Roleplayer. Actually makes a decent original character, then spends way too much time on their backstory and motivations.
– RNJesus Take the Wheel. Uses the "random" option, if one exists. Secretly wishes they were one of the other types, but doesn't have the skill or patience for it.
– Waifu. Makes their ideal girlfriend. Laments lack of loli options.
– Meme. Because who says the dragonborn can't be Shrek?
– Modern Art. Made to look as deliberately garish and deformed as possible.
– Caricature. Probably something racist but also really funny.
One thing I'll say is that I was a self-insert for a long time, and it mostly made me apathetic towards character options. Then I realized I can be myself anytime and the whole point of games is to be something you're not. I switched to waifu and now I'm very invested in my character options. Now I actually consider how armor looks on my character and not just what stats it gives. (Thankfully, Terraria at least has vanity clothing slots, but unfortunately the female characters look like Joseph Joestar in drag.)

i always make my character with a set template believe me or not, its a cool grey clothes purple hair scientist dude ig
and for the name i always just put my name and then for what ill be using it for
aka: "miojo builder" for journey mode, "miojo legendary" for legendary mode, etc etc

i recently just made a character thats entirely black and white and grey yes i will be getting black and white dye/void dye when i beat moon lord for vanity
and then theres that friend we have who named their character "T H E C * m"

Personally, I just put all clothes (and eyes/hair) to black and name my Character with my Name+something refering to the mod/playthrough it is for to keep an overview
