I played my share, and died many many times. But i just love the design of these guys as fantasy creatures and think some are really creative and there so much content to goof around. And even though i can sometimes die unreasonably fast i still love the mod too much for how these cuties look. And if you dont, there is texture pack for that. So whats the problem?

Like you said, alot of people die unreasonably when playing with this mod. There are plenty of creatures that can come out of nowhere and kill you especially in early game
Personally I don’t like them because they look like that.

Because out of the gate atleast from when I tried it 2 years ago, the default settings on a freshly installed server SUCKS, It will spam mobs to the point of lagging the server, Lycanite mobs is nice if you want to fiddle with the settings and spawn rates and working around it with a barebones wiki/discord. I love the mod itself but It does need some work.

idk, I like lycanites. Actually strong mobs are good. The thing I don’t like is how often rare variants spawn
Dunno. It’s one of my fav mods, mainly combined with a magic mod, like eletroblob wizardry, ars magica or thaumcrat. Without lycanites, I feel that combate spells are always overkill.
Also, there is a lot of creature that you can tame and ride, using it’s powers. It’s really amazing.
I like a challenge and fear of dying. Also, if you disable events, it gets a lot easier.
Because the mobs looks like absolute dogshit (take your own image for an example) and it needs a lot of tweaking to be even slightly balanced.
RLCraft was pretty much built around it because of its unfair balance.
I mine ore, I die. I punch grass, I die. I sleep, I die. I stand in darkness, I die. I stand near lava, I die. I cut down trees, I die. I swim, I die. I farm, I die. I go to the nether, I die.
Frequency and difficulty need to be tweaked to fit the specific modpack it’s in or else they can be overwhelming
The jumpscares of spawning enemies in while mining makes this mod very stressful.

Alright after readin the comments i undrestand why so many hate the mod.
Cuz mob spawning from block breaking is annoying, the mob designs don’t fit minecraft’s esthetic, the monsters having a lot of polygon and tend to spawn like a gazillion of them at same time mean that your framerate’ll always be at crisp 1 frame per millenia and your computer will be hotter than the surface of the sun.
Personally, I think the mod just doesn’t match Minecrafts art style enough for it to look good in-game (even with resource packs).
I just think they look incredibly ugly and don’t fit in the game at all
I don’t mind the mod but it’s definitely not one of my top ten’s, my own gripes with it are just based around the item models and the mob models.
But definitely fun if you wanna do one of those capture all the mobs challenge! I love making mob zoos
I like them because they freaky
They look completely out of place, and they use generic minecraft actions like how they turn around blocky models look fine with that, but this it is just like a cheap mobile game
Personally i feel like 50% of the designs are just doom enemies, it’s complicated for no reason, and the models just… don’t belong in minecraft
I learned to hate this mod’s unpredictability when I would walk into a village and get annihilated by aegis just for opening chests.
As PopularMMOs once said, Lycanite’s mobs can be pure evil.
Some people don’t think the mobs are Minecrafty enough.
Some people don’t like the difficulty of the mod.
And some people just hate it because it will forever be associated with RLCraft. ( they don’t like RLCraft )

I used to put it into my self made modpacks because I loved the challenge it added.
I think that it needs the texture pack and the stupid way they spawn in and oneshot you needs to be removed and then it will be fine

But… At least in my case, it’s a matter of personal taste, I’m not into that kind of design with mobs
because i want to not be attacked by a rock while just trying to dig rocks.
also it looks like a n64 creatures instead of Minecraft, it doesnt match.
i mean, i haven’t played this mod, but these guys look like they were ripped out of Doom or Quake
