I kinda miss the good ol days when you could breeze through all of pre hard mode with water bolt, and you used to be able to get it pre boss. Yeah maybe all the balance updates were for the best
I’ve always played melee it just makes then most sense to me. Like I can basically kill anything with melee now that they have projectiles. Occasionally I’ll use ranged but I’ve basically never used magic other then summons and sentry’s.

Fishron was hard but a benchmark point for mage progression however I am currently trying to get better by playing master mode on the drunk world

As a someone who has beaten terraria 5 Times as a mage and beaten zenith seed as a mage this caused me physical pain
