We should stop encouraging this; the point of an update is not to add as much as possible, it’s to keep the game alive
Mod packs fill the role of adding a bunch of things to the game, updates are to give people new things to try in a palatable manor, and keep people playing the game.
yeah but if the fans keep asking for an end update, and instead they add 4 other updates unrelated, people get more desperate

Why did you use Whimzee as example, he paywall mods

A company withholding development of a game in order to milk it for engagement and money is not something to be held in high regard. There are aspects of Minecraft that absolutely could and should be improved, and yet the company behind it takes a snails pace in producing anything, and hides behind excuses of ‘balance’.

This video sucked. The guy just copied ideas from the nether update and applied them in an incredibly subpar way. Not at all what mojang would do with an end update and all titled and presented in bad faith. The comments praise this guy for some unknown reason.

its not to add as much as possible, but it also shouldnt be “keep the game alive.” thats weird. why do we need to artificially extend the lifetime of the game by dragging out any content? it seems more like a tactic to keep interest (and therefore purchases) more than to create new, exciting, meaningful experiences. not saying updates shouldnt be paced in a good way, but as a main motivator for the size of an update, that stinks.

> I CODED A MINECRAFT UPDATE IN 1 WEEK!!1!11!!!
> Look inside
> Didn’t code it for Bedrock
> Didn’t check compatibility issues or bug test it for every Bedrock device that the actual devs have to do
> Ripped off 1.16
> “Update” is paywalled
this is surely one of the Minecraft updates of all time

The best part of that video for me was that it linked to a modding series so now I’ve been playing around with that.

Yeah coders can make mods very fast because they don’t have to code for 2 different minecrafts and 4-5 different platforms, check for bugs, check for compatibility issues and make sure it doesn’t break other parts of the game

Look at the minecraft dungeons End DLC. it’s so awesome and I wish that was in vanilla minecraft. They already have textures and some mob models to work with

I hate how this whole conversation is always centered on mojang or game development in general. The only actual reason minecraft updates are the way they are is because of Microsoft.
