I thought a woodpecker could be a nice addition, because the sound it would make pecking the wood could be similar to the creaking sound, helping to confuse the player.

Any other ideias? Or should the pale garden only have the creaking, in order to preserve some hollowness?

This could be a perfect opportunity to add crows or fireflies.
Crows is one of the first real life creatures we think about when we imagine a creepy dark forest. It could add a to the creepy ambiance with their sounds.
Fireflies could simply be a fake out in a way making the player think for a second that they saw the creaking when it was simply fireflies

  2. Considering it has this eerily quiet vibe… how about none? This is just like the Deep Dark, a place that has its emptiness be a critical part of the vibe, a place that shouldn’t have regular mobs.

Owls meet the vibe for me. Let their heads go 180 degrees and eyes glow a similar color as the Creaking at night.
