We can color every other wooden object in the game now, including boats & signs. But chests are used more than any of them! I think colored chests like these (rushed textures for post, ik theyre bad) would allow players a lot more options for organization & building! Maybe even an iron chests for locking?

I actually think this would be a pretty neat idea, I’d not ever really use it for organization itself but it would be cool to have the chests go with a house for visual purposes 😀
I’d rather not, since gathering a lot of the same type of chests for storage rooms would become much more difficult if you couldn’t use multiple wood types.
But even if they did do this, I’d want the oak chest to keep the default texture. I wouldn’t want to lose the original look.
But I will say, the spruce chest does look real nice..
I think it would be cool but i’d also like a way to keep the vanilla chest as its iconic and looks good

As cool as it looks, I don’t like the idea, simply because most of my chests at the start are made with random bits of wood, a lot of the time at the start I have 3 oak planks and 7 birch so I can use those to make a chest
I’d like this but I honestly think they’d add a stone chest of sorts before that (they almost did in the deep dark update, there’s concept art)

honestly i hope it just becomes data-driven so we can do it ourselves. same with blocks and items being fully data-driven. by that point you’d never need a modloader for decorative blocks
