The creaking/the cracking has a name similar in style to "the breeze", "the blaze", "the stray" and "the bogged" so it is either a new elemental blaze-like mob(what i prefer to believe) or a new skeleton type(most probable, ngl)
The Pale Garden could be a structure. A Garden is usually a man made thing. Creaking sounds like something that walks slowly, reminds me of floor boards creaking. Maybe it is something like the deep dark but in reverse where instead of the hostile mob having good hearing and you have to make no sounds. The hostile mob makes lots of sounds and you have to avoid them?
What if the Creaking is similar to the first few concept arts for the Warden? It's a white, hole filled creature with stumpy legs. That would be seriously cool if they revisited this concept.

I feel like it would kind of be a biome with gnarled/twisted trees that look either dead or burned, and maybe this biome could fog or something. I think the new mob should be a tall mob that can disguise itself as a tree, then sneak behind you. Maybe it would make creaking noises when it walks, and maybe it wouldn't move unless you aren't looking at it.
