Is 10 blocks between torches enough for no mobs spawn ?

    It’s fine.
I personally do it bit differently though. Not square pattern, but „hexagonal“ one. Distance between torches is 7 m, and 3 m forward and 3 m to the side is another line. It’s…simple, but I can’t describe it well. Basically, I use the way how light works in MC, to have higher light level,

It is, just enough for the diagonal theoretically. The lowest light block in the center of the square will have 0.86 light mathematically, but idk whether the game converts that to a 1 or a 0 light, double check using F3

  3. Torches create light for 15 blocks. Light level only needs yo be 1+ now for mobs to not spawn. Use f3 to see the light level where youre at (mid-bottomosh left)

You need a checkered pattern. I have a video about that but it’s for Minecraft before version 1.18

  5. Yes. The lowest light levels in the very middle of the dark spots will be 4. Torches emit a light level of 14 which decreases by 1 every block, and a diagonal is considered 2 blocks (1 sideways and 1 up or down). If there a 10 block gap, each torch needs to cover a 5×5 area between the others, so the diagonal light levels will be 12, 10, 8, 6 and 4
