Glass, slabs and other transparent blocks act like diodes and allow the current to travel only upwards.

redstone dust canโt travel down transparent blocks. however, it can travel up transparent blocks. the way i remember this is redstone dust dosent want to fall off a cliff but it can climb up a cliff if that makes sense, it just dosent want to fall down

Java feature/bug/general difference, on bedrock it would work both ways
