WTF IS MINECRAFT DOING ON STEAM?!

guys guys check this out check this out I’m going to shoot this Arrow it’s going to go through the portal this one there are three other portals and then two more like 1,000 blocks away and I’m going to go all the way here and there’s a villager standing in front of this gold set of blocks and Watch What Happens wait for it it’s going to take a bit [Music] yeah yeah that’s the first thing I did when 1.21 came out not the mace anyway what the heck is this what happened here Minecraft is somehow on Steam allegedly no it’s it’s here it it’s since been taken down but this info page is still available for this upload cuz if you try to search up Minecraft on Steam right now it’s it’s not there it’s going to take you back to this page nothing else is going to show up I’ll give you a quick rundown on what happened basically some random dude decided to spend $100 to upload Minecraft onto steam which caused a riot in the community because everyone thought it was real I did as well so did the Minecraft Wiki I don’t know how steam let this happen I mistakenly assumed steam had some sort of measure in place to prevent random people from doing this there was also this a while back where you could claim several mine coins I think 500 and then there was this message that said Minecraft Bedrock Edition Windows PC or steam so there was a hint about a month ago that perhaps Minecraft was coming to steam through this image it’s since been fixed so you could speculate whether they wanted to show it or not was just a mistake by some intern here’s another look at the remnant of what was I’m not going to answer the ageel question about whether Minecraft should be on Steam you guys can debate about that I know people are upset that they can’t play Minecraft on their steam deck I mean there’s no need for Minecraft to be there anyway now I can look at this and be like this looks legit right oh my God that’s narrator in the images what’s he doing there it kind of does just don’t look too closely release date December 31st 2024 that’s definitely the release date of Minecraft the logo so looking at the Minecraft logo here actually looks fine right no the a is not the creeper a that’s the first major giveaway now this is not definitive clearly because the Minecraft logo can look like this if made on blockbench with the plugin if you didn’t know you can make Minecraft like logos now on blockbench with the plugin it’s a plug-in created by Yan howl I use it I know a lot of people use it and I think this dude used it to do this in addition to this the trailer video uploaded is not the actual trailer for Minecraft I saw the Stanley humble Watermark and just thought they uploaded the wrong video mang makes a lot of mistakes no this is actually the video if the Minecraft trailer was made in 20123 by Stanley humble I have no idea what’s going on lame I didn’t upload anything to steam so I’m assuming someone took my video and put it there and for how long was only 1 hour and they took it down is that you who added Minecraft to steam bro WTF no it doesn’t seem to be a parody this is pretty legit anyway it’s taken down now so for anyone who wanted Minecraft to be on Steam it’s not going to happen yeah they really tried

  1. I wish Minecraft and its spinoffs had been on Steam, because then it would be so much easier to buy the games.
So far I have not bought any of the spinoffs, only because the payment method is too annoying and makes me give up.
I am not sure I could even buy Minecraft again if my account was somehow lost, because they really don't want you to be able to pay them to get their games, so they hid it behind a shit payment system…

And I would know how many thousands of hours I put into the game, which might be a scary number I don't actually want to know…

  2. I saw a post via notification about this on Twitter, but I just assumed it was a random one off thing and didn't think it was a big deal (until I saw this video lol. I didn't know Minecraft being on Steam was a huge debate or anything.)

  3. Funny, Minecraft on Steam would finally leave us from the hell that is having to update Windows 10 to update Minecraft Bedrock (and I believe, Minecraft Launcher as well)

  4. Something similar to this also happened with helldivers 2 a couple months back, You'd think steam would have some sort of barrier for these kinds of things but as it turns out no…

  5. Minecraft legends is still on steam, I saw the page and completely believed that they would link the Minecraft launcher on Steam.

  6. i would be in shock when in a universe it was on steam, like id imagine minecraft bedrock on linux, but it will not happen, obviously
edit: this could as impossible as Minecraft: Story Mode getting back on the shells with a season 3

  7. I would love the convenience of having a steam style mod page, no more messing with java, instead you can just install mods from the launcher itself.

  8. Just add "non-steam apps" in the bottom left of your steam client. It'll show others you're playing Minecraft and you'll be able to pull up the steam UI in-game

  9. I do think Minecraft on Steam was kind of a missed opportunity. Mojang could had changed their mind from excluding their game on Steam when they were Indie. Now it wouldn't have been a horrible choice for it to be available on Steam in the modern day, but since they're under the umbrella of Microsoft nowadays, I am unsure if such a choice would be pheaseable in profit for them, even if it slightly improves the accessibility of the game.

  10. "mistake by an intern"
my guy you are giving too much credit to the people who think adding a useless mob every year is somehow good content (and they regularly f it up in some way or another)

  11. "people are upset they cant play Minecraft on their steam deck."

Hi there, steam deck owner here. You absolutely can. You just gotta go to the power option in the steam menu, select "switch to desktop" and then download Prism Launcher from the internet. Spoiler alert: desktop mode lets you do a lot more than just download minecraft, too. You can watch youtube, download itch games, and do all kinds of things. The steam deck is literally just a smaller laptop.

  12. the release date being december 31, 2024 actually makes sense because it could just be saying when the steam port is coming thats what happened with former epic exclusive games like outer wilds

  13. You can play minecraft on a Steam Deck by using AntVenom's tutorial, but it's too complicated for me to do it when I can just play Terraria for a better experience

  14. I would still have preferred if MC used Steam to launch instead of the MS account system
But that's kinda like comparing to be given a strawberry or to be hit in the head with a shovel

  15. About the comment reguarding Interns…
As an intern at a media production studio I can confirm we are idiots who make mistakes… but also bring a lot to the table like teaching people who have been ok the job for 5 years how to set up a boom mic.
