Minecraft 1.12: Redstone Tutorial – Toll Gate v2!

hey guys what is up this is Mr Crayfish and welcome back to my Redstone tutorials in this tutorial today I’m going to be teaching you guys how to build my Tollgate version 2 now the Improvement since the last version is that the door will now stay open until you actually walk through it so let’s go ahead and let’s test it out now so all we have to Simply do is throw an emerald into this Hopper over here the door will open and then the door will only close once we step on this pressure plate and then you’ll see that it is now closed and then the cool thing as well is you can actually if you once you’re over this side you can actually use this pressure plate to go out and then you have to now pay again if you want to enter this door but anyway I’m going to teach you guys how to build this today so the materials you’re going to need is seven Redstone Dust four Redstone torches one redstone repeater one Redstone comparator two hoppers one sticky piston one pressure plate of your choice I’ve just got a stone one one chest one iron door and 64 blocks of your choice so the first thing that we’re going to do is place down our iron door this will just allow you to position it a lot easier so I’m just going to get a block of my choice out dig a block out of the ground here and then we’re going to place my iron door on top of that then going to dig a hole out so what we’re going to do is dig two blocks to the left of the door there and then two to the right we’re then going to dig the five blocks in front of this basically trench here so 1 2 3 four five and then also the five blocks behind the door here and now dig this down at two more layers so that’s one layer and that’s the second layer and this hole should be three blocks deep what we’re going to do is come to this front right corner here and we’re going to place our chest down let place it there and then on top of the chest we’re going to place our Hoppers so make sure you’re crouching when you place them or you’ll open up the gii so place them like that on top of each other we’re then going to go back down into the hole get your blocks of choice out and to the left of this chest here we’re going to place three blocks three blocks going to the left get your Redstone comparator and we want to place it coming out of this bottom item Hopper and then we want to lead that into two Redstone and then we want to lead that Redstone into a block here which on the back face of it we’re going to have a red stone torch block on top of it redstone torch on this right face and then another block on top now what we want to do is under this redstone torch here is we want to place a piece of redstone dust to the left of it we’re going to dig out two blocks place two Redstone Dust Down in the Hole we’re then going to De out this block here and then down one more place your sticky piston at the bottom there facing upwards and then place a block on top to the left again we’re going to dig out a block and place a redstone repeater facing away from the sticky piston we’re then going to dig out the block above the block the repeater is going into so dig out this one here we’re going to place a piece of redstone dust down we’re then going to place a block of our choice behind the chest here and then place a redstone torch on top now behind the block that the door is on we’re going to place a block and then on top of that block place your um Stone pressure plate or whatever one you got under that block we’re going to leave a space then place a block down we’re then going to place a piece of red stain dust on top of that and then you want to place your last redstone torch on the front face of the block like so and believe it or not we’re done now it’s time to configure it and this is where you can decide what currency the player has to use to be able to open up the door so what we’re first going to do is we’re going to get an anvil you want to get four cobblestone and then you want to get 18 of the currency you want to use in this case I’m just going to be using Emerald so I’m just going to get 18 Emerald now what we want to do is rename the Cobblestone to a really random name so uh just literally spam your keyboard add in some characters add in some letters numbers whatever you want to do and then what we’re going to do is we’re actually not going to rename the emeralds we just need to rename the Cobblestone we’re going to go into this bottom item Hopper and what you want to do is in the four last slots place your Cobblestone and then in the first slot we’re going to place our 18 emeralds or whatever um currency you’re using now make sure that the currency you are using can stack up to 64 otherwise it will not work now one final step to set it up and I almost forgot this is under this torch here we have a redstone repeater you just want to Simply set that to a two tick delay now if we go ahead and we throw an emerald in you’ll see that the door will open and then once we step on the pressure plate the door will close now at that point in the tutorial where I’m going to teach you guys how this works and it is very simple as a majority of my Contraptions are so let’s start with the Hoppers here so when you throw on your Emerald it’s going to go into this first Hopper now it’s not going to get sucked into this bottom Hopper here unless it is an emerald so if it is this this is going to stack up to 19 now if this does stack up to 19 this is actually going to send out a comparative strength of two so right now it is one but once this turns or is a n has 19 emeralds in there it’s going to send out an a redstone strength of two so this means it’s going to turn off this redstone torch which then allows this redstone torch to come on uh powering the door which opens it so if I throw an emerald in it’s going to open up the door now once the door is open open and you step on that pressure plate what happens is we’re actually powering this Redstone underneath which turns off this redstone torch now here we basically have an end gate so basically both of these Redstone torches have to be off for this Redstone here to be unpowered once it’s unpowered it’s going to um retract this piston down here and then once the person steps off the pressure plate here it’s going to unpower this Redstone which allows this torch to come back on what we have have here is a monostable circuit so it sends out a quick pulse so if we step on the pressure plate here it’s going to retract that piston and then once we step off the pressure plate it’s going to send out a signal through there and you wouldn’t notice it but it actually send out a signal through this block here which then behind that block was the repeater which then this powers that Redstone uh this Redstone here Powers this block turning off this torch and this allows one of these Emerald to Cipher through into the bottom chest below and that basically resets the door now hopefully that explained how it worked uh in my mind it is simple but maybe to you guys it’s a little complicated but uh rewatch that explanation if he didn’t understand how it works or just play around with it yourself now just a quick tip when you’re actually covering this up don’t place a block Above This redstone torch here or you won’t be able to throw items into this Hopper here so that’s going to end off this Redstone tutorial today if you guys enjoyed make sure you remember to hit that like button if you have any ideas for Redstone tutorials let me know down in 1. Thank you so much. I've wanted to know how to do this for SO long. BTW, this works with items that have a smaller stack count! (I'm using bottles of honey which max out at 16.)

  2. Does this not work for 1.17? I've followed it numerous times but my door will still not shut. I've read through almost all of the comments and many people seem to be having the same problem as me with no response as to how to fix it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  3. how could i extend the time the final hopper is unlocked for the emerald to get to the chest? im playing on a server that has a few second delay to hoppers, and the circuit would need to be powered for several seconds
