HUGE Parity Changes, Nerfs, AND BUFFS | Minecraft Bedrock Preview 1.21
Hello everybody prow here and we have a really really really big change to talk about really two of them that are really going to change everything a lot of things for Bedrock Edition one of them is going to break a lot of farms and again I’m okay with that and I’ll
Explain why hopefully I can kind of get you guys on my side for some of you that don’t like this change or at least get you to understand my perspective even if ultimately you don’t agree with it and then the other one is something that I
Think is a positive change no matter who you are and is going to enable a lot of new Farms on Bedrock Edition so let’s start with this right here this is the newest update patch thingy that just came out um for Minecraft preview 1.21.20 okay let me go down here right
Down here where it says blocks this is the first one and this one is enormous I’ve been asking for this for a long time and many of you have too so it states all blocks now drop items by default when exploded with TNT this is a huge like enormous you don’t understand the
Implications of this change that is occurring okay so on Java Edition this is the way it works now if something gets exploded by TNT all of the blocks drop so if nine blocks get exploded nine blocks drop on Bedrock Edition currently I think it would be like maybe like two
Or three out of 10 blocks will drop the rest just get destroyed right and they did this in the name of performance so we don’t want too many blocks dropping all over the place because that makes the game laggy or whatever which can make sense on certain devices my
Argument against that has always been yeah but it’s TNT in almost every single scenario the the player’s controlling the TNT explosion so we know if we’re creating lag or not that’s on us as the player I could also break 10 bajillion blocks or break a whole bunch of chests
And then all the blocks drop out that creates a lot of lag too so like if you break a chest should a chest not drop all the stuff of course not okay so anyways this is a huge change I’m going to show you this in game real quick here
In just a second but basically this is going to enable a lot of brand new Farms not possible on Bedrock Edition at least not possible in an easy way to now occur those Farms are going to be largely focused around different tree farms um all the different types of tree farms
Really should now be possible to do with TNT and then also Cobblestone Farms like fully AFK ones that don’t require like an auto clicker for the player to hold the button down or anything like that and then also concrete Farms where you can load up concrete have it have it
Pushed in by piston into this Cube and then drop TNT explode it all falls into water goes into a chest really really nice stuff really awesome stuff and I’m actually going to show you something right away that um I’ve already found that they haven’t done with this cuz
It’s going to be loaded on the world when I was doing my testing earlier um let me I’m like getting smashed right now by this wither um I wanted to test and see if it worked with the Wither um it doesn’t you can see all of these blocks they are not grouping
And tighter groups the reason that they can do this now is because of this previous line item drops from blocks destroyed in an explosion now get merged into bigger item Stacks before spawning in the world this is partially true you just saw that with the Wither that doesn’t happen
They’re not like spawning in larger Stacks they’re just items littered all over the place so hopefully they change that and they fix that I’ve already reported it okay but what you will see if we are over here on Bedrock Edition when we do this green concrete here put a tnt right here
And we surround this thing right 31 31 blocks right there should be anyway let’s drop the green concrete out of our hand here you can see that all 31 of those blocks just instantly dropped into two stacks right off the bat and there’s 32 32 blocks right there also if I go
Through and I place a bunch of TNT around here to cause a big chain explosion that would could normally cause a lot of lag on B Rock Edition or even maybe Java edition if the explosion is big enough right we go ahead and we set this bad boy off
You’re going to see the ground is way way less littered with blocks extremely less this is what they did this is what they changed to make this possible like I’ve shown so far this does not yet work with the Wither hopefully they make that happen for all you guys to fight against
The Wither and have like a bunch of lag because he breaks a billion blocks on Bedrock Edition okay on to the next thing and this is the one that’s going to be a lot more consequential because some Farm kind of a lot of farms have been broken
But new ways of making or Java ways of making some certain Farms are now going to be possible mobs naturally spawning mobs now spawn at the center of a block in this beta we updated natural mob spawns to have mobs spawn at the center
Of a block instead of at the corner of a block I don’t know what they mean by naturally spawning mobs I guess that means like if I click somewhere with a spawn egg it just spawns where I click right I don’t know this isn’t totally working we’ll talk about that in a
Second this fixes many issues where mobs could not spawn on slopes in narrow passageways and in other situations where they were expected to for example you dig a one by one long hallway to go Branch mining it’s impossible for a mob to spawn in your branch because its
Spawns are always blocked so the way that it works currently right now is the mob spawns in the northwest corner excuse me I have no clue what is Northwest in Minecraft I I I don’t bother to remember that but let’s say this direction right here is Northwest if Minecraft is trying to spawn
Something on this block right here it does a check and it sees if the space is spawnable but it checks it by like it looks for collision with the mob so what it would do is it would try to spawn the mob right here in the corner now if
Something is obstructing this block like this right here it’s not going to spawn because this this block is considered to be spawn proofed the spawn would fail the attempt would never even like happen basically well the attempt would happen but it would fail immediately but when
The M tries to spawn on this block what actually happens is it’s it actually attempts to spawn right here or right there in that corner so the game would have to check okay I’m trying to spawn a mob on this block are any of these blocks obstructed so let’s say you had a
Hallway like this mob tries to spawn on this block it would fail because while this block is free pretend there’s no button there this block is free these are obstructed the mob’s trying to spawn right there in the corner so the spawn attempt would fail this would stop a lot of mob Farms
From working or at least eliminating a lot of spots for Mob spawning to actually occur within a mob farm but it allowed some some nice things to happen too on some Farms what we would do like structure structure based Farms we would use this method right here to find out
Where something spawns if this was a witch hut and we would set up a little grid just like this right and then the witch would spawn say in this one this block right here this area right here so we would know okay this this block right here it’s spawning on the northwest
Corner of it this is the spawn block for the witch right so then I would I would design the farm based off of that the witch would spawn in the corner I would do something with the witch a lot of times we would do the something we would
Do with the witch is called instant push or insta push on Bedrock Edition mobs would spawn with their head in glass so this is our spawn spot this is the northwest corner the mob spawns right there it’s been a while since I I’ve done one of these so somebody can
Correct me if I’m wrong but basically if this was the spawn spot it would spawn right here on the corner with its head in the glass and it would instantly get pushed and then it would instantly get pushed off of like a ledge and you would drop it into whatever Kill Chamber
Whatever method you would have to to kill it this is the basis for how we make wither skeleton Farms this is the basis for how we make witch Farms how we make um really any structure farm and then also the fastest creeper Farms use this method too cuz the creeper spawns
And immediately just yeets itself off the edge okay there’s another type of farm that gets broken because of this too let’s go back into just normal like production regular Minecraft my creeper farm tutorial that I made not long ago this uses these Corner spawning mechanics to make a creeper farm work
Basically what happens is on Bedrock Edition mobs can spawn with their feet and Scaffolding and their head in water okay that’s just how it works and and Java Edition doesn’t work that way but remember how it checks for its availability to spawn so the creeper would try to spawn on that northwest
Corner let’s say that’s this corner right there it thinks that this is a valid SP uh spawning spot because its feet is in a scaffolding its head is in water and it it doesn’t know the difference right and then it checks this area to see if there’s enough room for
The creeper to spawn well this fence right here it’s enough in the middle to where this creeper can spawn in this spot but a spider can’t cuz a spider would try to spawn at the corner and it would clip it would intersect with this fence right here so this blocks spider
Spawns um it allows creepers to spawn but what if if a zombie tried to spawn well since it’s trying to spawn on the corner it doesn’t have the head height because its head is right here underneath this uh trap door that I just made myself duck with so even though the
Center of the block is right here and a zombie or a skeleton or something can spawn in the center right here since the mobs are spawning in the corner that’s not how it actually ended up working because the zombie or skeleton would try to spawn and that spawn would fail
Because there’s a trap door right here at the corner so what’s going to happen now is Farms like this are going to be % broken this type of farm will not work anymore because now that mob spawn attempt is going to happen in the center and since there’s no trap door here in
The center a skeleton a zombie a baby zombie like all of those things can spawn and the creeper can spawn too so really this Farm will turn into a general mob farm that’s extremely inefficient spiders won’t spawn in it but other mobs will and you can’t just
Add trap doors here because then that blocks the water so it it defeats the whole it defeats the whole purpose of how they work so if you have a creeper only Farm odds are with its design it’s not going to work anymore the other day
We did a video on iscal 85s U mob farm this thing right here and I talked about all the different ways that it didn’t work and part of that was because mobs would try to spawn on the corner they see the carpet here they won’t spawn they see the carpet here they won’t
Spawn they see the carpet like none of these were valid spawning spots none of these were valid spawning spots this would be a valid spawning spot because there’s nothing obstructing it right so on a farm like this you have on I think two two of the sides you have spawns
That would work but if like you came over to this side let me get a little bit of light over here and say this is the northwest corner well if it tried to spawn on this block it couldn’t spawn if it tried to spawn on this block it can’t
Spawn if it tried to spawn on this block it can’t spawn right so like this whole side wouldn’t work for example so now this Farm is not extremely viable but slightly more viable now with this change every spot on this Farm is spawnable by creepers not spawnable by
Spiders right so instantly it becomes way more effective but still due to other mechanics mostly the spawn rate the the speed in which mobs try to spawn on Bedrock Edition is way way way slower like probably 50x slower than Java Edition I’m making that number up but it
That seems about right to me as I as I say it this type of farm still not very viable it will create some creepers for you its rates will be nowhere near what Java Edition is I don’t care if you build it all the way up in the sky with
Nothing else around it the spawn rates are still going to be a bit slower but it could be technically worth doing if you just think it’s a cool farm to try but overall still not a good Farm on Bedrock Edition I would try something else so that brings me back to this
Point right here which is I just explained to you how all of these things are now broken on Bedrock Edition because this one change and I told you that it’s a good thing so let me explain why they they’re calling it a bug it’s not a bug it’s a parody difference it
This was intentionally made this way or was consequentially made this way and just accepted as how it works it’s not a bug but it doesn’t make sense like to me a feature a mechanic it has to pass the common sense test I put this in the same category as quasi connectivity for Java
Edition okay on Java Edition it doesn’t make sense that a block can diagonally not touching another block power it it doesn’t it’s not common sense for it to work that way that one actually happens to be a bug but they grandfathered it in they let it stay and what’s the
Consequence of something that doesn’t make sense that shouldn’t be part of how the game works staying in the game what’s the consequence of that well here we are like 13 years later since that was introduced or however long it’s been and it’s still in the game and now
Mojang likely feels like they can’t take that away from players because even though it doesn’t make sense even though they don’t want the game to work that way even though Bedrock Edition doesn’t work that way too many people use it now and they don’t want to break everybody’s
Stuff right so yes they are willing to break everybody’s stuff here on Bedrock Edition in this case but I think it makes sense to do it do we want to keep carrying on a bad mechanic that doesn’t make sense nobody that starts playing the game a a block based game would
Think that the mob would spawn at the corner of a block that it would check all the blocks beside it to see if the mob can spawn even though the block that it’s supposed to spawn on is fine you know what I’m saying so even though it’s going to have this negative effect
People’s Farms are going to break our rates are going to be slower I mentioned structure spawns earlier they haven’t made structure spawns like part of this yet I don’t know if that’s accidental or purposeful but like uh wither skeletons like fortresses and witch huts and things like that they still spawn on the
Corner as of right this second that I hope they fix that too so all of these things won’t work anymore and everybody’s reaction is going to be negative to it at first but you got to think why is your reaction to it negative why do people think this is a
Bad thing that do think this is a bad thing to happen they think it’s bad because a the thing that they worked on isn’t going to work anymore I mean that that kind of sucks but hey man it’s Minecraft you build farms because you like building them a lot of times so
Just change or build a new Farm I know it kind of sucks but it’s for the greater good right it’s for more consistent Behavior it’s for parity it’s for something that makes sense to people that look at it for the first time the second time the third time every time A
Change is made in the game it’ll make sense for people going forward so it’s worth it for that reason but also we do those things because they get us the fastest rates they make us get more Wither Skeleton uh skulls they make us get more witch drops they make us get
More gunpowder from creeper farms and we’ve over people have over engineered and used things like insta push and all this kind of stuff because Bedrock Edition Farms are just slow so the main concern that I think a lot of people have isn’t oh man insta push doesn’t
Work anymore that really sucks I really like that mechanic just because it’s cool it’s because man I had to use this me mechanic to make my Farms fast enough because I don’t get enough gunpowder I don’t get enough I don’t kill witches fast enough I don’t get enough Wither
Skeleton skulls and coal now my Farm’s super super super slow so the root problem isn’t the mechanic itself the root problem is that the Farms are too slow so on Bedrock Edition like I said spawn rates are like 20x 50x something like slower than Java Edition so instead
Of like us looking to keep a broken or non-sensible mechanic in the game just because it makes our Farms a little bit faster let’s instead accept that that change is going to happen and is a good change to happen but also let’s start demanding let’s start advocating for
Let’s let’s start voicing our our frustration and opinion on the fact that our Farms are just too slow and if you want to make this change that’s going to take away current Farms the fastest Farms that we have in some cases for different materials for different resources is instead of only taking that
Thing away also give us something make mob spawn rates faster do something to increase the rates on our Farms that way it’s a give and take not just a take anyways that’s my opinion on it I’m kind of curious what you guys think let me know down in the comments section below
Hopefully this explained things really well and hopefully this helps steer some of you guys that I know are frustrated about this change to think about it a little bit differently the problem isn’t that they changed it because the change makes sense the problem is is I was
Using this thing for a purpose and now I don’t have something to use in its place so give us something to use in its place allow us to make Farms that are faster and make sense at the same time that’s all I got for you guys for now leave a

I still dont understand why they will not let us use the offhand so we can easily repair items similar to java. some parity changes make sense and they need to find a way to make it work with the controls. realistically does anyone actually play mobile?
I'm pissed, They're taking away my super fast prowl creeper farm….
is structure mob spawning the same as natural mob spawning ? cause I took it up as natural meaning general mobs like skeleys zombie, creepers, etc, mobs that can spawn anywhere in the world so I would think structure farms like witches and wither skeleies might stay the same(for now)
as for the thing about them not wanting to break our farms, they should totally say we don't wana break java farms cause that's what the devs play. they break bedrock farms nearly every update. to be honest I'm not annoyed with the changes I'm just annoyed with how often this happens to the bedrock community all the while java are sitting back with their tnt duping tunnel bores, carpet bombers, world eaters, infinite stock tnt farms, nether roof accessibility and farm building, chunk loading capability, qwazy connectivity and I could probably think of a few more if I actually tried, these bugs are 100% game breaking and not intended game mechanics until they changed it to "intended feature" but yet for bedrock oh your getting cooked meat to easily let's change it so camp fires don't set things on fire and cooked the meat and say it wasn't an intended features cause that makes no logical sense. really ?
i just finished building your creeper farm yesterday and was so proud to finish it and now im hearing this??😭😭
Your creeper farm is 😞 broken😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 that creeper farm is my favorite
By the way does your quad mob farm work
I personally use a “mine-cart conveyer belt” system to speed up my farms. By introducing a row of mine-carts on activator rails next to your spawn spots you get immediate delivery of the mob to the trident killers which speeds up the time between mob spawn and death which directly affects your collection of Pieces Per Hour. I’d recommend anyone looking to speed up their farms look into these. I have always been thrilled with how fast and efficient the mine carts are. The mob is seated into the mine-cart, then promptly throw out into the neighboring mine-cart in a direct path as a mode of transportation.
I personally do not mind it, but maybe it's just cause I have farms that did not break, I am using silent's scaffold general mob farm cause it's much better than having a creeper only farm since it also gives everything else I need, bone mean and string etc., but I really would not mind if mob spawns were even better, but more than hostile mobs, I want better iron golem rates, cause iron is waaaay more useful than any of the mob drops, you cannot build a farm without iron
They should increase the hostile mob cap to make it better
You make no sense on your reasoning for changes to bedrock, for the greater good yet, you are endorsing NOT changing because it’s on Java and it would affect too many people.
Just wanted to see how youd spin this one into a positive like you did raid farms. Who cares about tnt it still cant be duped and now my gunpowder farm wont work to make tnt anyway. Now not only raid farms but every mob farm i have is ko'd. Im done 2500 hours on my world im not tearing down and rebuilding farms. If i wànted to start a new world and play java i would. Stop trying to spin this into positives. Its not, period.
Dude listen to your arguments. Its been like this for years but the mechanic doesn't make sense so lets break it. Oh its been like this on java for years and they dont want to break everyone's stuff so there it makes perfect sense to grandfather it in. Like what?? Come on man get real…
If they change the spawning mechanics they should change the mob cap like 30cave spawn and 10 surface spawn
The nether roof building was a bug on the java edition but now it's a feature. When can we get that? Bedrock players like farms too.
I finished a big, bigg creeper farm that is gonna brake with this update. Yheeaa f me🫠
Prowl, teach me how to make a good gunpowder farm with this change. I need lots to make lots of TNT with a crafter.
Mojang: thats a nice mechanic you have there bedrock. It would be a shame if something happened to it…..
Hold my drink. Click click click. There i fixed it by taking it away! Why are you upset? I fixed it!
Can hardly wait for the new tutorials Prowl! 😊
I happy with my farm I play by myself
Something that I feel would really help is parity on default tick speed. Iirc in Java default is 3 but in bedrock it’s 2. This should help with mob spawn rates (and crop growth speed and many other things)

It's easy to remember. Imagine the minecraft world around you as a coordinate plane. The X axis is east to west and the Z axis is north to south.
Northwest is in the negative X and postive z direction. In the video, you were pointing Southeast
Also, according to Rufus, instapush still works, but it's locational because where the mobs get pushed depends on floating point inaccuracies
The grouping of item entities should have been done a long long time ago. Java has been doing it forever.
You cannot-not know where East is. East is always where the sun rises — by definition and etymology. East means rise: The sun rises in the East & the Son rose on Easter. East = rise. And there is debate whether there was a pagan European goddess from a Babylonian pagan goddess Ishtar. If there were, it doesn’t change anything, because to the Germanic tribes, she would have been a goddess names “Rise”. East is the direction to the rising Sun.
Really great video! You’re quite the thinker; i wish more people paused & identified the real problem with a problem in more areas of life.
honestly thanks so much for going through the explanation of how the mob farms work, i learned a lot from it, even if it isn't going to work this same way pretty soon
No this one sucks im so glad ive not finished building your creeper farm. If they wanna give us parity let us build on the nether roof
Nope don't like building the farms. And they take me days. And now they're breaking all our farms.
I'm not even waiting for the update, I'm done with mc, literally uninstalled it while watching this. We had a good run prowl, but no longer need Minecraft videos either 🙃
Can anyone tell me what the best method for auto killing mobs that doesent use a trident killer? My tridents keep falling through the world. Not really too worried about looting 3 for drops just something that's auto and dosent break everytime I wanna use it
My reaction is negative purely because the majority of nerfing happens to bedrock not java
Good. Thats a good reason to make new farms, new content for bedrock creators, and now we can also use farms from hermicraft etc
I totally agree with Prowl, fix the dumb mechanics, but PLEASE give use a higher mob cap as well as mobs spawning farster, like they do on Java. I know people are going to say something about phones and platforms like the Switch not being able to handle the speeds, so maybe tie it more into simulation distance. Give us something like if you are on simulation distance 4 you get 16 mobs below ground and that doesn't change until the simulation distance is at 10 or 12 swith split caps. Maybe every time you increase your simulation distance, your mob cap goes up with every level?!?!?
Seems to me that they want us Bedrock players to switch to Java. I keep hearing that they want parity, yet the changes feel like they are only to make Bedrock less enjoyable. Why not make mobs spawn in the corners on Java? Next they are going to make us walk backwards over things to bridge out.
Honestly, I think you’re being way too optimistic here prowl. There’s no mention of any give, not even a hint. They’ve acknowledged it’s a take in the change log and that’s it.
I would really like to see gravity block duping (and TNT duping) be brought into bedrock. As well as the wither mechanics when interacting with obsidian (to make obsidian and Wither Rose farms) Also chunk loaders would be a interesting addition to Bedrock, but bit of a stretch to ask for that like everything I have mentioned.
To my mind naturally spawned could mean non-structure spawned, eg. so witch huts and guardians and whatnot still spawn on the corners.
It would make sense given that Mojang said they want to improve spawning in BIOMES, but they try not to break clever farms. (ie. changing structure spawns as well wouldn't cause general mob spawns in biomes to fail as much)
This is a step in the right direction. I do hope we get better spawn rates and spawns start from the bottom of the world and go up. Caves are dissapointing. But the only real problem I have with this new change is it came way to late. Raid farms are going to need a new way of being made but I'm hoping it works out. I know not many like raid farms but I do just not the current bedrock raid farms.
so then when does bedrock get java's spawn rates? otherwise you just punished bedrock and no change to java
I make more gun powder in my witch farms than any of my creeper farms 😂😂 that and dual spawners are all I need for XP or a good enderman/endermite farm . .
Don't worry my Bedrock peeps. You all know we're going to get a thousand different tutorials for new better farms within days of 1.21 release.
I don’t mind changes, keeps the game fresh.
why are we pushing for parity ? fine give me lower resource consuming linux and 3 bed iron farms with farther visablity on windows
Going to suck having to rework all the farms
They should add connected glass
Your ziglin gold farm is also broken?
Something needs to be done for creeper farms, even the best ones weren’t great. Now they’ve added 100% drop rate for TNT and removed anyway to farm gunpowder effectively. So yeah up spawn rates or remove the density check. I’d be happy if we could make creeper farms that were half as good as the Java ones.
So are structure farms like guardian farms broken?
