The Crimson Desert seems to be only for people who want more fighting in the game. I never found any other reason for it. Marlon will get one thing back for you… but only for the last time you get knocked out, I think. I went once and never bothered again. Far too fighty for me.
So happy to see that Silly will be moving to the farm. You have a new entrance from the path too. There are so many quick travel choices in this iteration of the game.
The Jasper story line had time delays built in. When I read the information on the mod page on Nexus, it said it takes at least a month to play out.
I find the best way to deal with the Crimson Badlands is to go slowly and kill the monsters instead of just running past them. Also pay attention to your health and keep it near full as some monsters can one shot you, There are shops available on certain days at the outpost that sell new items that can help. And you'll either need to blow up the mummies with bombs after felling them or have crusader on your sword to kill them. That giant black serpent drops an item that will unlock a cut scene and potentially a future story.

Marlon’s item recovery service does indeed extend to the Crimson Badlands but I think it only works for the last time you get knocked out.

You've been able to make a few potions all along… well… you have to get to the point, but they exist even in vanilla Stardew. Life Elixir is one.
