Back to some game-play activities, in this episode we cover early-game stuff you’ll want to do to further prepare you to start taking down bosses. Gearing is actually only part of the equation, as you’ll also want to attract more NPCs, build a fighting arena, and further explore your world to find valuable items that will aid you in your journey.

Note that although this video is titled Early-Game Gearing, the focus of the video is more on activities to find gear, rather than specific gear recommendations that you should use. Part of the reason for that is there are a TON of different items to find and use in any given world, but there’s no guarantee that you’ll find many of the items that might otherwise be recommended.

Also, I think the best way to learn the game with respect to gear, particularly weapons, is to experiment. Each player has his or her own preferred playstyle, and the last thing I would want to do is try to pigeon-hole anyone into the way I like to play the game.

Reminder that this guide series is primarily intended to players who are new to Terraria, struggling to progress, or coming back to 1.4 after a long hiatus. It is up to date for the PC version of 1.4 and 2020 updates, which in theory will be the final major update for the game.
