I don't normally overprepare. I normally just speedrun right through everything.
Current playthrough I decided to 100% pre-hardmode before starting hard mode.
Getting a bundle of balloons without a sandstorm in a bottle spawning in my world(now I have to fish Oasis crates, and even then it's a 1/40 reward) and the shellphone is taking a really hot minute. ~25 hours into my world and still pre-hardmode.
I also decided I was gonna star cannon the fuck out of the wall of flesh, lmao.
I also also have 100 of all the best potions available pre-hardmode. Except the thorns potions which I'm not bothering with…. yet…. who knows how long my last fishing quest accessory for the shell phone will take.
You forgot to farm for Exquisitely Stuffed buff items.

Start of hardmode guide : Mine 9999 titanium and make every single titanium item, also, make one more set of armor for equiping in the vanity slot, then get every weapon or accesory drop from enemies, every single shimmer upgrade, and don't forget the coin gun with the 999999999 platinum coins

I overprepare. It doesn't mean I get thousands of arrows but I do go for the best gear possible as fast as possible
Buddy forgot something it's the Night's Edge, You can make it with the: Blood Butcher/Light's bane( you can use anyone of these two), Murasama, Blade of Grass, The Volcano(The great fiery sword). Craft it at a demon altar.
Perfect for me who just played this game week ago and previously had a habit of overpreparing in minecraft too 🤣
