  1. Everyone craps on summoners when it is probably one of if not the best class. Most bosses in the game aren’t that hard to dodge. MAYBE if you go true all summoner yeah I guess, but if you make armor that is for melee get a few accessories that increase minion slots and a bewitching table, if yOu have a good whip it’s easy and fun

  2. Imo all classes are basically the same except with the terrarian/zenith, which are post-endgame weapons, which leads to my first point: availability. If we think about the strongest weapons in a class’ arsenal, for ranger it would be the vortex beater and phantasm, for summoner it would be the Terra prisma, for mage idfk I don’t play mage but I do know that it’s best weapons are obtained from the nebula pillar. The point I’m trying to put across is that all classes except melee reach peak functionality just before the Moon Lord, and after that there’s not much else to do in terms of combat. Considering how much effort it takes to craft the Zenith, or set up a competent Terrarian build, and the fact that these weapons are only obtainable once you’ve killed the Moon Lord, there is really very little reason to even be going after these items besides the achievements on steam. With all this to be considered, the tired old “Melee is the best class” trope and is really quite debatable, seeing as all four endgame builds are about as powerful as each other, and Melee only truly surpasses them in the Post-Endgame where there’s not as much to do, and with a bit of skill, a pre-Moon Lord build will still suffice in taking down any bosses or enemies you still have some reason to kill.
Furthermore, I find that an underrated aspect of classes such as Summoner and Mage is how little aiming you have to do, which facilitates dodging attacks more consistently, as you’re not having to focus on two different things at once. Granted it’s a small nitpick, and not exactly a debate-ender of a point, but it strengthens my argument nonetheless.

In conclusion, I believe that the four classes are fairly evenly balanced, at least towards the end of the game, and getting there really isn’t that difficult. I admit that there are points in the game where Melee is quite a bit more powerful than it needs to be, but it’s a pretty balanced class overall, and often falls behind in power as well, such as in early game where you’re smacking bosses with a toothpick, or, on a lucky seed, with a blue toothpick. Or the other variant of the blue toothpick. I digress. I believe that melee’s occasional power surges are justified by having to struggle more in the early game than other classes, and the argument of the Zenith and Terrarian trivialising the game are rather pointless, as pre-Moon Lord builds are already overpowered enough to dispatch just about any enemy with minimal effort. Unless, of course, you suck at the game, in which case…
…you’re the reason the Zenith was added.
