Terraria’s ultimate crowd control weapon… The Shadowbeam Staff. In this video, I take a look at this post Plantera powerful mage weapon that is incredible good at crowd control in the Terraria 1.4.4 update. This weapon has always been pretty good, but actually received a nice damage buff further improving its usefulness. As this weapon is obtained from the dungeon, its also pretty easy to get and won’t take long at all due to its high drop chance! You should give it a try!

  1. Reminder that in 1.2 Hero made a video of this combined with the Spectre Hood set bonus to kill I think 6-9 bosses at the same time. Both mentioned items might be past their glory days, but they've defintely still got uses

  2. Most games: this high precision, instant speed weapon is used for picking out single targets.
Terraria: here's a magical crowd control sniper with high rate of fire.

  3. Can you make a video about unholy arrows? They are so good and they can pierce and glow just like jester arrows but do way more damage plus you can get them in early pre hard mode

  4. Especially against Duke, if you fight Golem first surely the Heat Ray would be more effective in the single target scenario? Also has the instant travel time that you praised the Shadowbeam for.

  5. This weapon is a hot pile of shit since if anyone was to try this on legendary(master ftw or especially master the everything) world, the only real difficulty(expert and normal are for the filthy casuals which dont want to get any good as all they want is tanking everything and still living, while master is the starting difficulty for people new to terraria who want to experience it's real challenge) golem wouldnt be a pushover, it would be an immovable wall, except it moves around extremely quickly and will NEVER let you win unless you were to use some shady tactics.

  6. i think the reason why not all dummies get damaged is because the damage output needs to be atleast 1 for damage animation to happen. The dropoff from 1 damage makes it negligible thus not counting as 1 damage.

  7. I rarely ever farm for it, but if I get a shadow beam staff during a mage playthrough (which tends to happen a lot while getting exctoplasm and other dungeon weapons) I absolutely hold on to it and use it quite a bit

  8. Tbh, I never really cared about this weapon. The damage is too low, and mage has plenty of crowd control already by the time you get it (like the Razorblade Typhoon, for instance), so it kinda just feels like it's not worth going out of my way to get. It's not necessarily a bad weapon, I'd just prefer other options available at this time

  9. I actually found myself using that Boulder staff from Golem instead of this. I think just the insane knockback and strong single target dmg it can deal now make it a better weapon generally.

  10. I'm starting to think that it barely matters if you use Post Plantera, Post Golem or Post Cultist weapons against Moonlord. They all seem amazing.
