Mojang never told us the crab claw will be able to break blocks and the Minecraft china edition translations also changed recently saying nothing about it breaking blocks.
Even IF the crab claw was able to break blocks further, it would probably be as slow as a stone pickaxe.AND by the time you are going to find the rare mangrove swamp,you will definitely be in mid game with better tools and armor so the crab claw isn't going to solve your daily problem as a beginner.
