In this challenge I decided to challenge myself more than I probably should. I set out on an expert world with one mission in mind; beating Terraria as a Mage with only magic weapons, with only one Mana star. That means I only have 20 mana to beat the moonlord. This was pretty difficult.

Some things I forgot to mention: this video was recorded before 1.4.4 came out, and the mana flower and any successors of that accessory were banned because it would've been cringe. Also I completely forgot that since 1.4 Terraria you can't obtain the waterbolt pre-skeletron, my bad!

I’m personally against using journey mode, feels like too much of a cheat to me

The orange zapinator with the meteor armor would be op in that challenge tbh
Meteorite armor reduces the mana cost of both the gray and orange zapinator to 0 (though it doesn't say the mana cost is any less) so meteorite armor would have been viable the whole playthrough

No. Journey mode makes the challenge unfair because you get bonus loot. And allows duping.

journey mode is inherently cringe imo, but for something as grindy as this i'll allow it.

I love the fact you disclosed you used journey mode and that you also ethically kept true to playing the game with a challenge, just not repetitive tedium.

Journey mode in my book is great and always accepted. Also if you really want to play Terraria wrong, try a playthrough with only being able to do one damage. Not sure the best route to do this, and would take a while, but I would totally watch that!
