Welcome to the only Prismatic Shard guide you’ll ever need! I have a guide out from before the 1.5 update was released, and decided it was about time to update it! There are so many more ways to find prismatic shards, and more ways to use them now, so I’ll be going over each and every one. I’ll also be giving good tips on how to make sure you get yours, tools and methods you can use and share my favorite way of getting a lot of shards in one day.
There are some light spoilers, for those of you who are not too late into the game, but don’t worry! I want you ahead of time and share where to skip to and avoid them.

BlaDe really is the best! He pulled up some game files to share some info for all ya'll. According to the code, Prismatics shouldn't be able to drop from regular purple gem nodes, or trash cans. And, burglar ring worked on the drop% on mummies, serpents and shadows, but not for the "Any Monster" drop for shards. Thanks for the clarification!

I got my first Prismatic shard by a Blue Slime in the secret woods in my first year, I was so shook because I did not think I could get it from there, I ran back to my house with it and sought to see what my luck was that day because I didn't know (I never check) And apparently the spirits were angry so that was crazy and I didn't have any luck buffs on me at all either, The same thing happened except with a bug while I was looking for amethyst, I had some wild luck when it came to getting them and it all happened within my first year of my current attempt for perfection and yuppp felt like sharing that haha.
I havn't gotten them any other way though
so far i’ve found 3 killing slime in secret woods
Just got my 1st Prismatic Shard via either a Mummy or rocks beside it I bombed
i swear the percent chances are wrong, in my one world i have 2 tiger hats, one for me and one for my horse (apparently a 0.1%), but only have one slime egg, a purple one, (apparently a 1% chance) maybe im just super unlucky when it comes to eggs lmao
I got my first from a big alone in the early levels of skull cavern
I got my first prismatic shard from a omni geode and damn I screamed out loud cause of that
I got my first prismatic shard from the rock in the skull cave. I took it to Clint and I read it’s a rare chance of getting it that way.
I got mine in the volcano dungeon from the Iridium Ore, I was so confused up until it happened like 3 more times, this is also like my first playthrough by myself instead of multi-player with m friend(s)😂😅

I had it in when i unlocked the little uuuh i'm french so it's wagonnet the thing that leads you to the skull cave in my first time there with the mysterious stone i broke it and i had it.i knew something was odd because all of the rest of minerals looks a bit similar of irl gems but this one is oddly all rainbow and don't look like a stone but more of like a thing that was made by an old civilisation that are now lost to the ages so i kept it an irl day after i unlocked the bus and at my first season i already had the dwarf scrolls and i wasted precious time searching three pillars in the village like the grave said but i was so happy to find that later. 🤟

i donated my first and took my second to the desert😫 the second i got my sword i remembered i have a crystalarium
Actually I did donate my first one to Gunther because I didn't know better.
Could have really used that Sword earlier!
In lategame I would use a prismatic shard over a rainbow shell for the dyeable effect as farming primatic shards isn't really an issue anymore
I love how I broke about 150 omni geodes in two sessions, desperately dived Skull Cavern, tried suggestions from this video (that I loved btw) and so on… my first prismatic shard was dropped not by one of those gdamn Serpents, or the magic stones… it was dropped by a small, weak DUST SPRITE in one of the level 40s of the mines. Two times. The same exact way. Lmao
Bruh, as soon as I started watching the video I used a mega bomb and kill the stone crab, he dropped a prismatic shard.
I found mine after almost a whole year of playing the game
Fun fact, if you have a 1/N chance for something to happen, then doing it 2N times gives you a 95% chance of success. For example, if you have a 1/250 chance to get a prismatic shard from an Omni geode, processing 500 gives you a 95% chance for at least one
When I unlocked my quarry, there were TWO there the very first time I explored it! Very lucky 🙂
I got my first one from a monster drop! I actually didn't even notice until I opened my inventory at home I was shook lol and it was right after getting the special charm
Thank you soo much, bro it's my first time playing Stardew valley and I want to get to the end and get the best gear, so I mined for it by looking for the purple/blue star things (forgot what it's called lol) I had to go to sleep I, the next day I mined a little bit more than I thought Wait why don't I try that other way that I found on YouTube since I repaired the bridge yesterday So I tried it…. It didn't work then I was like Oh wait let me reset the day like she said I reset the day tried it again AND IT WORK BRO THANK YOU I WAS LIKE OMG OMG MY FIRST PRISMATIC SHARD THANK YOU YOU MADE MY DAY 😭
Eating a prismatic shard would feel like putting a battery in your mouth
1:26 i was actualy playing on 1.5 recently and i literally got my first presmatic shard on that file from one of those smooth stones, so it IS real just have a little patience
My first prismatic shard came from a random mystic stone in the quarry that I broke while I was clearing it out. I literally had no idea they could spawn there so I was so suprised that I didn’t even do anything with it.. I just put it on display in my house.
I found one again in the regular mines while looking for an ancient seed in the mines.
How, you may ask? I killed a bug. On floor 10-15. Which has a 0.05% drop rate.
Needless to say, I think I was happy with my luck that day seeing as I got the ancient seed I wanted shortly after
The purple stones with swirls are mystic stones, and they have a 25% chance of giving a prismatic shard.
I really could barely find many. I’m end game and don’t really need them after Galaxy weapon for forge. But I did want some for making clothing. So I made switched an eel pond into a rainbow trout pond. Then the next day I got my perfection statue and now I will never need another one
I got my first shard from a TIGER SLIME 😭. I had a rainbow trout pond for AGES. I think they would taste like the very berry nerds gummy clusters 😌
This is random but I think I once found a ancient seed and I sold it 😭
My first shard was gus trash can
(bonus i got trash can hat 1 season 2 year)
