Fun Facts: Diamonds and Obsidian in Minecraft are both much tougher than their real life counterparts. Real obsidian is about as durable as glass, but when broken is much sharper (Broken glass is already dangerous, can you imagine what obsidian could do? Stay away from that crap, unless you want to make spearheads). Real diamonds certainly can’t be fashioned into weapons and armor, and while still quite durable, hardness does not equal durability. It can be smashed with a hammer and crushed by a hydraulic press. It’s carbon so it can be set on fire, and it sublimes at standard atmospheric pressure if you got rid of the oxygen. Melting it requires pressures of at least 109 atmospheres in conjunction with temperatures of at least 3550 degrees celsius. and then you have to pour and cast it… Under those conditions the entire time. Good luck finding a way to do that with medieval tech lol.
