Back at it, and now we’re covering one of the most complicated skills in the game! Mining is a completely different world from Farming or Foraging, so hopefully this gets you started! By the way, all of the songs in this video are cave related, can you identify them all?

  1. I find the simpler way to think of rocks is in stone health and pickaxe strength.
The stone health varies from 1 to 25 (that I have found), and that depends on location. e.g. Copper ore in normal mines has a health of 3. In the dangerous mines it is 6, and in skull cavern it is 2.
Each time a pickaxe hits a stone, it subtracts its upgrade level + 1.
This means the copper pickaxe takes 1/2 as many hits, an iron pickaxe takes 1/3, a gold pickaxe takes 1/4, an iridium pickaxe takes 1/5 and an enchanted (powerful) iridium pickaxe takes 1/6.
This also means the upgrade to copper halves the number of hits, while the upgrade from gold to iridium means you take 4/5 the number of hits (80%).

For example a copper pickaxe can break a copper ore in skull cavern in 1 hit, but a iron one is needed in the mines, and an enchanted Iridium one is needed for dangerous mines.

The gems can be found on any floor once you reach the bottom. (With jade being half as likely as the rest).
The purple stone can give any of the 7 main gems, including diamond. And the number of hits it takes to break varies depending upon where it is. Sometimes it will take 1.
I assume you found your test case on floor 80-120.
The same applies to mystic stones, with the number of hits to break one depends on where it is. In the mines it will be 4. In skull cavern it will be 5.
Most rocks can be found on floors divisible by 5. This includes gem stones, mystic stones, and purple rocks. It is primarily the metal ores (and radioactive) that can't.

  2. I have a small detail regarding mining xp and dust sprites, whenever a dust sprite breaks something that gives mining xp the player gets the xp. In multiplayer all players get the xp even if they arent in the mine.

  3. How rare are gold coconuts in artifact spots? I recall you saying they have an extremely low chance but the only gold coconuts I've found (like 7?) Were all artifact spots.

  4. Oh, this should include the meteor that can rarely show up on your farm. According to the wiki:
    – The event has a 1% chance to happen… but it picks a random 3×3 space on your farm, then checks to see if at least 2×2 of it is open enough/passable. It will not land on things that block movement, such as buildings, water, or fences. However, crops and crafted paths don't block movement and thus are fair game; a few players have had their hearts broken when their Sweet Gem Berries got obliterated.
    – You will hear a booming noise overnight, and then in the morning the message "An explosion was heard in the night…"
    – It requires a gold pickaxe or better to break. With the gold pickaxe it takes 7 hits; with the iridium pickaxe it takes 6.
    – When you break it you get 6 iridium ore, 6 stone, and 6 geodes (yes, normal regular geodes). In other words, it's not worth rushing a gold pickaxe for, unless you wanted to put something else right there.

  5. Hey this is kind of random and idk if it would be helpful at all, but I just watched a newly uploaded video from YouTuber Sample where they attempted a no money run in Stardew Valley. Because it was no money they didn't upgrade their pickaxe, and randomly during the video (around minute 26) I saw them hitting a Mystic Stone with their un-upgraded pickaxe in the quarry. Unfortunately they didn't show enough for me to actually count how many hits it takes to break but you could probably ask them if you still need the info. Of course that wouldn't help for how many hits it takes for the other pickaxes…

  6. 14:09 false. aquamarine can be found on lower floors, but only once you hit floor 40/41 for the first time. same with emerald, but for floors 80/81.

  7. 15:33 Mussels are actually classified as fish so they can be used to make sushi! That makes the mussel nodes a great source of easy food that passively replenishes and if you collect a bunch of them while waiting for the Qi Cuisine quest you can turn them all into sushi and sell them without it costing any money for seeds/ingredients :)) 💕

  8. I don't know WHAT one of my farms was drinking but I found a mystic stone in my first skull cavern run, my first visit to the quarry and my SECOND visit to the quarry, all 3 times I got a prismatic shard

  9. I love mining. I just started playing this game again and am doing a no farming/Joja run. I'm spending a lot of time in the mines.

I was going to try a foraging only/Joja run, but it's been a while since I've played and want to ease back into things

  10. There's also a chance (not sure what percentage) of getting a mystic stone in the quarry, I've gotten there a few times
Edit: Whoops lol, just saw that you mentioned that in part 2, my bad 😅

  11. I think Clint doesn't like diamonds because its mostly associated with marriage proposals, something he has very little confidence at.

  12. Here I was after 50 hrs thinking that you only get refined quartz from recycling glasses and stuff lol 😂😂 welp now I can’t say this video didn’t teach me anything

  13. Not-so-pro tip!:

When you unlock skull cavern, you'll want to maximize the amount of floors you can do in one run, so do this:

The desert trader trades one spicy eel for a ruby, so set up one to three crystalariums, and wait two days (in game ofc).

Then set up one to six crystalariums with jades, because on sundays, the desert trader offers one ladder for one jade. And the ladders are A HUUUGE resource, if you want to maximize ur floors.

(Even though, try to do smaller numbers than six, because if I'm not wrong, the crystalarium is crafted with irudium, hard resource to find if you're just starting skull cavern)

  14. Love the inclusion of the max lair lobby music, lol. Actually there in game while watching this, confused me as to why I could hear my switch’s sound all of a sudden.

  15. i found the mystic rock on my first ever farm at the quarry and got a prismatic shard!! … to which i then gave to gunther because i didn’t know what the galaxy hammer was

  16. I’m pretty sure each rock type has a number of “health”; the amount of hits it takes to break with a normal pickaxe (eg. Normal rocks with 1 & copper ore with 3) and that each pickaxe upgrade does more “damage” to every rock (so normal with 1, copper with 2, silver with 3, gold with 4 and iridium with 5). Correct me if I’m wrong but that’s just how I’ve imagined it playing the game and I think it works with that graph.

  17. I'm pretty sure i just mined a mystic stone in the quarry which is insane, it was the first one I've found and it dropped a prismatic stone! Between that, the abundance of amethysts I got at the beginning to court Abigail and the rabbit's foot as the very first rabbit drop, I'm beginning to think Stardew is the only game where luck is on my side XD
