If you find a lava pool and go into F3 on the right hand of your screen it says what block your looking at even through lava. I used this and got up to 7 diamonds in one lava pool from it!

What's your Minecraft version
A mistake I see virtually every reviewer make is that they try to optimize their shafts to catch all diamonds. What you want is to maximize the return of diamonds for your time. Whether you miss a few here and there because you didn't cover 'all' the blocks, is frankly of utterly zero consequence, as long as you got as many diamonds as possible for your time. To that end, my shafts have three un-excavated block rows between them, not two like so many others. I used to do over and under shafts back when the probability of diamonds on higher levels was equal, but now that the probability is highest at the lower levels, I only do the lower set of shafts. Finally to minimize the probability of lava interrupting my shafts, I mine at -54 which is the level the bottom most lava pools spawn at. If my shaft exposes lava, it will be at my feet; I pour water over it, pick the water back up and continue shaft mining.
-54 is better if you want avoid most of the lava pockets dropping down on you.

my favorite method is using xray resource packs 💀(lmao one time i mined for like 5-10 mins and i got 56 diamonds using xray btw i did have fortune)

when you farm at -57 you are way more liekly to hit Lava and have to go around or up. when you just stay at -53 or -52 you are at the Typical hight of lava seas which means you find more caves which are alwys more effective to find diamonds and you dont get as smuch interrupted
I prefer strip mining with 2 block gap between tunnels. Y-54 has given me my best results.

A great way to fix the slowness of the crawl mining for me personally is by bringing a water bucket and sprint swimming into the one block gap, it’ll let you go into the block and you’ll be moving as fast as you normally swim, it’s instant and easy to do. This also allows you to crawl mine on bedrock edition.
if you use a water bucket to “crawl mine” you can swim like you’re actually underwater so you’re able to swim sprint

Both strip mining methods are faulty. The first one actually theoreticallly mines less area because there are points where one potential vein is covered twice (where the bottom right and top left of adjacent tunnels are. The second has the same problem just worse.

It's cool but I'm struggling to make my screen brighter like u have the night vision but without the potion it's kinda hard to fix it
You'll want 'Aqua Affinity' on your helmet as well as 'Respiration'. You'll mine faster, as well as hold your breath longer. Without Aqua Affinity it'll take a lot longer to mine the diamonds, and you'll have to come up for air before you've got all the diamonds in the cluster.
Weird flex, but i always get my diamond gear and tools from villager trades…
-56 strip mining. Lots of lava, but usually up or down two blocks to bypass.
Desert temple tnt and a high efficiency pick axe to mine ancient debris in the nether.

I mine at y -53 to avoid lava pools. You are always at the top.
Mossblock mining in caves.
I think I mine at -53 because there are not many lava lakes, and if so, you just hit the top platform of the lava lake.

Before i had fortune III, i would only get about 15 diamonds per mining trip. Now, i get stacks per mining trip.
It makes getting diamonds so much more easier, its def worth getting all the XP and bookshelves to enchant it.
