I think they're just trying to finalize the design on jungle and swamp villages. Designing a village that is amongst the jungle trees and underbrush would be hard, same for making a swamp village not look like they just terraformed the swamp.
Or maybe they want you to use a lightning rod to turn the witch back into a villager. there's always the chance for zombie villagers to spawn, maybe they will be more likely in those biomes.
Babe wake up, Xisuma posted a minecraft update video
Its getting to complicated to bother getting diamind gear most likly i wont bother after these changes.
Yay, just what the game needed.
More world size bloat and forcing the player to deal with the still terrible world-gen lag.
The villager cartographers will trade Woodland Mansion maps at Journeyman level, you stopped too soon
This is one of the worse updates ever, the armorer and the librarian changes are dogshit combined with the garbage enchanting, anvil and grindstone mechanics, cartographer is nice tho.
do these changes apply retroactively? or do they only affect new villagers?
I hate the villager changes so will never use the experimental or change to newer version once implemented.
"look at that, i found a bug…"
This changes seem really bad, i am an adult i have a job and stuff to attend to,i love playing Minecraft on my free time, i cant grind for so long i just like to build, not being able to have the enchants that i need from any villager is so boring i hope that if this goes through there is a datapack that removes the nonsense
The plains village icon looks like zedaph's skin
I like these changes, but to be honest, I feel the whole "needs diamonds to get diamond gear" seems like a pretty small subsection of time it encompasses, early game you need armor and don't have diamonds, mid game you have diamonds but don't want to spend too many, then late game you have gear that makes exploring the low y levels easy and therefore you have a surplus of diamonds.
Strangely, I feel like I'd be more welcome to these changes if they coincided with a Enchanting/Anvil rework. It'd be nice if you put a bit of effort into getting some villages decked out and explorable, and get some early end-game gear, that you then can custom fit how you want.
As it stands you have to go through a LOT more effort to get stuff from villages (which even before these changes most non-youtuber minecrafters don't do because breeding up a village is tedious) AND on top of that the gear you want to make is ALSO blocked by the pain-in-the-back that is Enchanting.
I feel like the village trading system is now getting overly complicated. One of the nice things about MC is its simplicity. The new trading rules are making it a difficult as potion brewing to understand. I never got into potions because it hate having to look stuff up on the wiki… so now I want to get a specific enchanting book, I'll have to go to the wiki to figure out where to go to get it. Too complicated.
Overall the changes I believe are good, but there is some things about it that bothers me.
The main thing for this update specifically that I dislike is the fact that diamonds are needed for trading for diamond armor. Although I agree that the diamond armor trades should be nerfed, making them cost diamonds is the wrong way to go about it.
The whole point of the villager trading system is to make it so that you can aquire items that you don't like getting for yourself. For example, lets say you really dislike mining [even though ur playing MINEcraft], you should be able to use villagers to trade other materials to get it instead.
I do think that getting the materials and items yourself should be the optimal way to get them rather than villager trading, which is why I really disliked the previous villager system, but I think the diamond armor trade shows that Mojang has lost sight of the point of villager trading, at least just a bit.
I still think that making Mending exclusive from swamp is bad… Mending is THE MOST USEFUL AND IMPORTANT enchant, and maps that don't generate swamps, like maps with only 1 biome, it will be close to impossible to get a mending book.
The enchantment books you can find at structures seem very thematic to the location. I like it.
I dont like it.
Need Diamond to trade for diamond armor?! RIP skyblock players if no additonal resources are provided.
Ok, great. I still say this is biome dependent thing is ridiculous unless they at least add jungle and swamp villages (in addition to making villager transport easier). And superflat players are still screwed regardless.
I dislike being negative about changes but i hate every single villager change in the experimental phase, they were fine, they required a lot of grind to reach that level of having everything, so they could not be considered that op, it requires a lot of materials to make a trading hall, to zombify villagers and cure them with golden apples and potions and a lot of time too, the problem was never to find the biome especific villagers, but the act of having to transport them all the way, villagers are terrible to work with, and adding a map feels like a joke and avoiding the problem, also not having max level enchants is nerfing villager trading into oblivion since you could barely have all enchantments on your armor without the anvil becoming too expensive and locking you out so now it's even more ridiculous, if they roll this out i hope there is a datapack to revert everything back bc im not using them that way, there is no reason to make this grindy game even more grindy for the sake of it, also costing diamonds for the max trade of armor is also a no for me, the whole point of getting armor from villagers is to not spend diamonds, i don't underdtand why mojang wants us to spend so much time mining for diamonds apart from the usual
Personally really not a fan of the villager trade changes – I love setting up in a village and working for good trades with villagers, but I don't really enjoy exploring all that much. These changes would just make the game less enjoyable for me.
Honestly I've thought that librarian trades should get buffed not nerfed (admittedly I'm biased about this) since it can already take hours to get a trade you want
The reason you weren't getting maps of Mansions is because they always trade both, you have to level them up once more so they can give it to you!
This is a bad change and it's going to make the game significantly less fun now that we're going to have to spend twice as long getting half as good tools.
i foresee a future were we have to breed the villagers in different biomes then just cart them to all one trading hall once we lock there trades in.
the more i see of the villager experiments the more I hope they just delete the whole thing because I abhor these changes wholeheartedly. from what I'm seeing they're just making features and putting bandages on any complaints instead of removing the unwanted parts of it which is really bad.
well it just break any skyblock map with teh requirement for diamond in armor trade.
Finding biomes wasn't the problem. Yeah, it makes it easier to find the biomes we want but that doesn't make it easier to bring the villagers from those biomes to our base. We don't want to explore THAT much, we want to be able to make a villager trading hall at our base. But we can't do that when it's nearly impossible to transport villagers that far
Honestly I love the changes to cartographers. I'm kinda hoping we get something similar for the other dimensions. Maybe a bastion/fortress/end city map or compass?
I would also like to see more structures in the jungle/swamp. Perhaps a rare chance for an abandoned village, or possibly an update to the jungle temple and witch hut
I freaking love the concept of these changes to villagers. We just need a better way of moving villagers, either by making them atracted to emerald blocks or introducing a way to make villagers mount and dismount horses, llamas and camels
Villages on maps is a good step, maybe having the ability to add villages to a map by right clicking the bell would give more utilization to the update
