  1. Save one parsnip seed. Sell the rest but not needed. Just buy 1 seed of each on spring day 1. At least the ones needed for cc bundle. Harvest the last one needed on Easter. Buy at least 20 strawberry seeds at the Easter egg hunt. Go back into town after the Easter hunt with your collection for the bundle and get the speed grow for the 20 strawberry plants. This gets you one more harvest from 20 strawberry plants. Don't plant more than 15 seeds until you get scarecrows. The crows won't come and feast.

  2. I've done some math for the 'sell your seeds' tip. Tl;dr: If you do it for the early money, then it's not worth it. If you do it for early variety, be my guest.

    warning: maths

Scenario 1: buy 25 extra parsnip seeds the first day, plant all 40 seeds on day 1. You wil have 40×35 = 1400g on day 5.

Scenario 2: sell the 15 free seeds. You now have 650g. If you want the most profit per seed, buy cauliflower, they cost 80 and sell for 175. So you can buy 8 seeds with the 650g. You will have 8×175 = 1400 on day 13.

Of course profit per seed is not the best way to rank the plants, so maybe you shouldnt invest all your money in cauliflowers, but I just wanted to show that this tip is not that good in terms of early money (in my opinion).

  3. If you're running the river farm like in your video, crab pots are amazing, especially when you get the profession that makes them significantly cheaper to craft, and eventually require no bait. I have infinite food all year round, as you can make several recipes with fish, sashimi being the obvious easy pick, which you unlock by befriending Linus.

Setup some recycling bins, and you'll have more refined quartz than you know what to do with (I consider refined quartz a trash item, I have so many). Refined quartz is a great stone/wood substitute for making pathways on the farm, once you have the crystal pathway recipe unlocked. Recycling trash you get from crab pots is also a great way to get supplemental coal, iron, and cloth. You'll also have more torches than you know what to do with. I used them to light paths around town early game, and now, I just sell them. They're basically worth nothing, but it beats throwing them away. Early game, that little extra income can be useful.

People trash-talk the river farm, but I like it. Besides, if I want to plant a lot of crops, I just do that on Ginger Island, which is basically a massive outdoor greenhouse. I use the river farm as a fishery/ranch, and the island farm as my crop farm. Well, I also use the river farm for tree farming in the SW corner.

  4. One thing I do when I have to upgrade my watering can is do it in Winter. It ain't raining in Winter. Of course, it is preferred to do it before but it is easy to make sprinklers….

  5. 3:03 TERRIBLE ADVICE! do not sell the starter parsnips. they take only 4 days to grow, and are enough to give you a good starter money but more importantly, FARMING LVL1 which unlocks scarecrows. there are barely anything to buy at day 1(and you already get money to buy them), and without scarecrows, you will be wasting alot of that money from crows eating them.

it makes even less sense when you see that you only get 150 gold from them, meaning you can only buy 1 cauliflower and 1 kale, or 3 potatoes.

thing is, you will get 285 gold and around 40 xp from the cauli+kale, or 240 gold from the potatoes( and 42 xp). they will also take alot longer to grow. with cauliflower taking 3x the time a parsnip would,

in contrast, you will get 520 gold in 4 days. as well as 120xp

it makes absolutely no sense to sell those crops. you get less exp, you need to waste more time, and you get less money.

also shout out to the selling the 15 bags, get 150 gold from it, then turn around and waste 20 gold buying 1 back!

  6. As a new player of Stardew Valley (who is actually finding it quite difficult ngl…no-one has ever accused me of being a gamer lol) this is one of the only videos on YouTube that have actual tips for BEGINNERS and not just tips for the experienced player. It is super useful, thanks so much!

  7. Honestly, i disagree with the 4th Tip. I think that parsnips are a MUCH better option for your very first crop rotation, the reason being that potatoes are actually profitable once you gain a couple levels in farming to up the chances of getting additional potatoes and you can only do 1 harvest before the egg festival anyway. If you invest most of your starting money on parsnips instead, you can get the same amount of money you would planting the potatoes faster.
To set an extreme example, if you were to spend all your money on parsnips or potatoes and planted them on day one, you would get a total of 40 parsnips vs 13 potatoes. Worst case scenario (2 crows every day for 4 days straight & no higher quality crops) you would still get around 1050g by Spring 5 with parsnips, meanwhile with your 13 potatoes in the best case scenario (around 4 additional potatoes and at least 1 silver quality) you could get around 1300g by spring 7. That means that you are actually earning less per day and wasting time. Not only that but by planting parsnips first you can take your harvest, sell it to Pierre and reinvest the profit into even MORE potatoes/kale that will be ready to harvest just before the egg festival which is perfect timing in my book.

EDIT: For the fishing, I always buy a training rod on day 2. The reason being that it's the best way to power level fishing as you don't have to care about casting distance and the low difficulty fish will provide you with an easy streak of perfect catches for massive XP relatively quickly. The low quality fish can be used for energy as you said in the video and if i sell my entire haul i can usually get about 800-1000g. Combine that with clay farming on day 1 and I can go straight for a fiber glass rod on day 2, bait and trout soup for the fishing buff and energy so I can keep fishing until 2 AM. I can easily make it to level 3-4 fishing, which makes catching catfish on Spring 3 much easier, propelling me to level 5 fishing and selling the haul from both days for quite a pretty penny with the angler profession.
In fact, if you keep at it, you can potentially go all the way to getting an iridium rod and catching the legend by day 8-9 (provided Gus decides to sell a fish taco during the week for the +2 fishing). I normally don't go that far and would usually wait until fishing level 10 for that, which can easily be done before the end of spring.

  8. I've finally started playing the game after many years, I've watched a handful of guides and this one has been the most helpful so far, thanks~

  9. For anyone wondering no it is a bad idea to sell those 15 parsnip seeds with the gold you have, you get more farming exp and more consistent gold just using parsnips plus once you get that crop done you have the time needed to plant a bunch of potatoes and sell them before the egg festival (aka strawberry time bebe)

But it doesn’t really matter much for the most part pick which start you want honestly

  10. Bro you lost me at the point you admited that you jus5 recently figured out you can move the tv and furniture in your house. I just started playing last week and i learned that the very first day

  11. I just started playing Stardew Valley a few days ago. I'm finding your tips are excellent for beginners. The tip about bringing a chest to the mine just blew my mind.

  12. 1 handy tip: forage at Saturdays' because foragables will reset at sunday or after Sunday and you will have time for mining farming and fishing

  13. I don’t get the rain watering can tip…..I just refill at the pond. Why wait till after rain if it’s easy and convenient?

Is this a feature of the copper can specifically?

Also what’s the negative of passing out due to energy?
