I think the Dryad is a tree as a form of sleep similar to Chief on the Forward Unto Dawn. She’s a permanent protector and sleeps as a tree to recharge for the next fight.

Ive never even thought about the lore before.
I saw the Dryad turning into a tree not as her dying, but essentially going into stasis, waiting until the next big threat to come to Terraria where she would be needed once more.
Now I need Terraria 2 lol
Imagine this text popping: "Cthullu has now invaded"
Like imagine when you forgot to cleanse the world before defeating Moonlord, causing the Crimson and Corruption to spread at terrifying speed and can't be cleanse no more. And now your back to ground zero with mob monster and bosses themed to the variant of the infection.

I thought this game’s lore was just: Someone shows up in a forest one day, proceeds to kill everything in sight and destroys all nature to build things that assist in killing everything in sight. Many creatures try to stop them from killing everything in sight. They fail. Not even the Moonlord can stop this person from murdering everything.

I don't see dryad ending as a bad one. She didn't end herself but in her own way went to sleep or at least connected with nature around her.
My thoughts for the pirate and angler is just
Pirate: Don’t fish with that!
Angler: Fish with it?
Pirate: No DON’T with with it!
Angler: Okay I’m fishing with it.
They both probably will die.
Dungeon defenders actually has a portal directly to the forest so im sure tavernkeep could return any time

I always thought NPCs didn’t actually respawn, because when they do they have a different name. Guide #2 isn’t the same as the Guide before him
No respawns, just replacement
