So rare, yet so crappy: Terraria’s Chain Knife

Of the Mace example given, there are plenty of other good weapons obtainable in the Caverns that are both easier and better than the Chain Knife – especially in other biomes.
Or you could be like most and head on over to smash some orbs after getting your ore bow, rendering this even more irrelevant
Also, for those wondering why this was made in place of the Fledgling Wing video, I couldn't figure out how to make that one into a video script? Seems like the idea was more half-baked than I thought from the beginning. Oopsie.
We'll see if that one actually becomes a video or not.

I love chain guillotines though, I never get them because shadow flame knifes are better but they are my favorite weapon

This is my first ever enemy dropped weapon I had when i played my first terraria world, from the first cave bat no less. And I have never gotten the weapon ever again

I love this kind of obscure and secret weapons that everyone missed at least once, adds much to the game

Your type of content is like short form tutorials or facts stretched to the longer form it's funny.

first time i found it i thought to myself "oh sweet! a grappling hook that deals damage"
and then it didn't equip in the slot
that weapon is one of the biggest dissapointments in all of terraria
they should make it a damaging grappling hook like first timers would expect
also because that'd be awesome and new

Chain knife should be found in surface chests instead, and do more damage and have auto swing

In Don't Dig Up, Chain Knife trades places with KO Cannon. A lot of the progression swaps will buff both weapon spots, and that happened here as well; the KO Cannon is slightly slower than Chain Knife, but with far better damage and slightly better range, it's actually functional. I got it in a skyblock run and used it as an alt weapon when I was out of mana for Diamond Staff for a while.

I like how direct and informative your videos are. you dont sugarcoat and pretend this kind of weapons have real uses

I actually found a strange glitch with the chain knife, if you fire it straight down at the ground it makes some sort of forcefield around the player, especially around the head. Moving does mess it up a bit but it does still work.

you dont need kills, you need luck. not the in-game luck mechanic, just luck.

I’m sad that you call this bad because in my first playthrough I used this and since it was my first playthrough I was nervous and got some range using it. I killed the eye of Cthulhu with it and somehow had 3 before getting full golden armor.
Edit: at close range it shreds

idk, a chain knife carried me through most of pre hardmode on expert. It attacks faster the closer the enemy is to you which can make it very powerful against most basic mobs.

In my first playthrough I actually got the chain knife pre-boss wielding a katana. (I had unreal luck on that playthrough) and unironically tried using it on King Slime. Rest assured it didn't go well.
