If you want a free tool for pixel art on pc, I recommend PISKEL. It’s a website, so no download is required. It’s what I used before I bought a specialised program.

You’ve increased the zoom, not the image size. Use the Resize button (top left blue square with a white dotted square growing from it) to make it bigger. I’d do 1000% size, then zoom out as you need. You can also use windows image viewer to zoom in a lot more without having to resize.

Zoom in. Take a screen cap. Open screen cap in image editor. Zoom in again. Rinse. Repeat. Your results may not be great but that should get you there.
