I work in advertising. While the 1st and 2nd one look more interesting and prettier, the most important is to immediately catch the attention of the person scrolling. You want to avoid people scrolling further because the thumbnail does not stand out enough.
Right now, the 3rd one is the strongest because you notice the bright creepy eyes right away.
I suggest the following:
– Choose the first thumbnail, but make the eyes stand out like in the 3rd one
– Add a call to action within the thumbnail, could be a small red rectangle with a max 3 word message (in German) like: Watch now, Horrifying stuff, Find out more. This will make people more eager to click on the video.
