stand in the middle, you’ll get Galaxy Sword.

If you want The Cool Sword, take it to the pillars on the northeast corner of the desert. You can buy the Hammer or Dagger from Marlon after you unlock the sword.
If you want to inch closer to perfection, give it to Gunther! You’ll get another one. Eventually.
Don’t save it for the Missing bundle. Everything else on that list is easier to acquire.

Leave it in your inventory, go to the Calico desert, and stand in the middle of the three pillars in the upper right corner. You won’t be disappointed I promise you.

Keep the prismatic shard for the Galaxy Sword, you can acquire that at the desert. I gave the 2nd one to Gunther in my 2nd play through.

Sword is the most important thing you can use your first one for. It makes the monster fighting aspect a lot easier, which will help you much more in potentially getting another prismatic shard more quickly. Doing literally anything else with it will slow you down quite a bit in getting your next shard.
