Save all the stone and clay you get plus fiber because you need it to build certain things, if you want to sell gems from the mines make sure to get double of everything just in case

  2. Save and earn as much as you can till the fest. On the fest day buy all the strawberry seeds and prepare yourself for end of the season. Meanwhile again earn as much as you can while fishing, at the end of the season you gon say oh it was a good start 👍🏼

buy a silo!!! it helps sm as you”l have lots of grass on your farm and it will store hay

  4. Don’t bin or sell wood, fiber, clay or stone. You’ll need far more than you know later on. Don’t pressure yourself in to being perfect either, it’s your first time so just learn the game and your preferred style. Oh, don’t donate your first prismatic shard or dinosaur egg.

    Never ever sell jade

    Organize

Keep at least one of each thing and quality

Tap at least one of each tree

    Plant your tree seeds

Mushrooms logs are sweet sweet passive things

Fishing is great early on but can be annoying, you can do it!!

Take your time, there is no rush. Love the moment.

Opt for fruit bats in your cave instead of mushrooms bc you can build logs for those.

  7. Make some chests, and put one unit of each item on them, you eventually will get a mission to get one of the items you have in storage

Also, animal products like cheese or mayo are a great way to make cash

  8. Hoard materials.

Sell gems, keep earth crystals. But I usually keep 1 of everything at least.

Fishing is going to make more money than mining typically.

I’ve been playing for years and the Skull Caverns are still impossible for me making iridium rare. So I like to try to get a perfect score by the dawn of the 3rd year when Grandpa rates your farm so you get the statue that gives you daily iridium. You can Google how to get a good enough score.

Fertilize your crops. The extra money adds up.

There’s no need to rush to the bottom of the mine, you aren’t going to be able to use the item down there for a while anyways.

Once you unlock the Community Center, an item you need to complete any room will cause the golden tree looking icon in your inventory to pulse when you hover over said item.

  9. Don’t look stuff up… it’s more fun and casual to figure it out as you go, otherwise it starts to feel like homework.

get a fish smoker asap, collect at least one of everything until you can see the things you have to donate, don’t cut your grass (if possible), give loved gifts to npcs on birthdays

Just keep on fishin. And mining.

Don’t worry too much about anything else unless you get a chance to land clear for a bit.

Stock up on seeds once a week for the next year.

Build up tons of money cause you’ll need it for making wine and alcohol cellars and jam barrels.

    Keep tree seeds.

Most importantly, focus on getting the greenhouse as soon as you can.

Keep a little of everything, sometimes ppl will ask for things out of season or you will need them to craft/cook

Keep all your sap when you cut down trees. I accidentally made it a habit to sell off all my sap in my first save not realizing you need it for more than torches.

There’s soooo many tips and tricks around min maxing but really, this is a sandbox game – play how you feel comfortable and want to play it
    Enjoy!

    1. Take your time and go at your own pace. There’s no rush to do anything. Any event in game that’s time sensitive is repeatable if you miss it, except for like one heart event for Sam.
    2. Go into settings and turn on Item Stowing and Advanced Crafting Information. These are rather useful features that frankly should be on by default. Item stowing let’s you put away the item you’re currently holding so you don’t accidentally use or gift it, and advanced crafting information tells you how many of an item you can craft and how many times you’ve crafted it in the past, it will be extremely useful late game if you decide to go for perfection.
    3. Stay organized. You’ll save yourself so much time by being even a little organized so you’re not spending hours in game looking through chests for a specific item. Inventory management is also very important.

  16. Until you know for sure you don’t need it, save at least 2 of everything you find or harvest.

make more chests than you think you’ll need. You can keep one up in the mines for mining and one next to the mountain lake for storage, it definitely helps early on when you don’t have funds for the backpack upgrades.

cut wood in the cindersap forest to the south, and keep the tree seeds to replant on your farm. Make field snacks when you need them if you’re in a wood cutting binge

there are maps of the world online that can show you the“safe” squares to stash your chests in areas away from the farm. Otherwise the NPCs can walk through and destroy them. I use chests everywhere in Y1 to keep things I need for the museum, beach, etc.

Foraging will be your best source for energy and food early on, so go forage anytime you’re out of energy. Don’t sell forage items, as they have almost zero value, keep the vegetable items for food/energy and the flowers for gifts/friendship.

Soak it in and savor every moment. I wish I could erase my memory and restart sdv 😩

Keep one dinosaur egg and prismatic shard, don’t give the first ones to Gunther

That bin next to your house? It’s not for storing things. It’s for selling.

Take it slow, don’t worry about min/max and just enjoy the game and its peaceful gameplay. Ie… the surroundings and music. It’s a beautiful game.

  22. 1. Make some chests and put them outside by your house. Use them to hold items/resources instead of keeping things in your inventory. At least 2 to start with, 4 is better (i sort by fishing/gardening/resources/misc).

    2. Dont stress too much about Joja vs Community Center choice. JoJa is easier but CC is more satisfying. Both are, IMO, “good” endings for everyone.

    3. There’s no “wrong” way to play so long as your having fun. But if you want to feel like you’re making good progress, I would recommend focusing on getting your farm up and running first, then unlocking deeper levels in the mines and upgrading your tools. I usually try to get to things that will automate a lot of the work like sprinklers since this gets you more of your time back to do other things (like fishing) later on in the game.

    4. If you get a prismatic shard, SAVE IT!!!!! Also same with ancient seeds!!
