  1. Thank you Xisuma. I always know I can rely on you to be a voice of reason. It’s been so frustrating seeing all these people not understanding the concept of minor game drops and complaining about lack of features. I hate how these spoiled kids are expecting to get three updates a year, each of which revolutionising the game as a whole. But the worst thing I see is people saying “modders make way more than this in a few days and don’t even get payed”. I’m not even going to elaborate on this unless someone asks in the replies because it’s just such a stupid argument that should have an obvious counter that I shouldn’t need to explain, and I’m just sick of explaining it to the people who say it

  2. My main concern is that its called the winter drop, Minecraft tries to be inclusive and make world accurate updates like bees but forget the fact that its summer in the southern hemisphere when its winter in theirs

  3. I understand the whole drops versus updates thing perfectly. And If I thought for a second that the ‘major’ updates were actually going to be big I wouldn’t care. But they need to just remind people that not every update can be the nether update. Personally I don’t care about the size of the update they just seem like they are adding the first thing someone came up with.

  4. i think the issue with pale garden
is less that its "feature light"
But more that it feel incomplete
even the dark forest has the woodland mansion

Because of the horror atmosphere, we have no reason to enter
We need a drive to enter the horror area
Otherwise, players will just go to the edge, get the saplings and moss, and leave

No one would go to the deepdark, if it only had the warden, since its just "danger" and nothing else
Deep dark had ancient cities & sculk sensors, which made people want to go to the dangerous area

Yes, not every biome needs an insentive
But a dangerous biome? it absolutely needs an insentive

  5. If they want to change how they do updates they’re going to change it nothing we can do. But I think Mojang and players are going to have to contend that a lot of Minecraft content from servers to mods to YouTube have been for the past half decade paced around a certain style of update calendar. That changing is going to change how all sorts of creatives interact with the game, and how easy it is for casuals to understand that interaction pattern.

  6. The pale gardens feel like they are straight out of left field and don't blend very well with what is alresdy in the game. As well, there are countless amounts of content requests, needed improvements, and promised but forgetten conent that could have been added instead. This horror style and yet another new wood feel very out of place to me

  7. we understand the state of the updates… it is just a freaking lazy and pointless thing that they did. From a international, millonaire company like Mojang owned by Microsoft… there's no excuses, and there is a lot of ideas from de comunity they ignore. I don't understand the necessity on defending them so much

  8. So, for your curse idea, isn't that just normal gameplay? "You can not rest now. There are monsters nearby."

The Creaking feels like the first mob without any lore. There's nothing about it that really ties it to any other part of the game, nor does it do/have anything to give the game new depth. The Sniffers are tied to the fossils and possibly the Nether. The Warden and Deep Dark point to the ancient builders trying to keep the Wither at bay and expanding their portal technology.

If they had something in the Pale Garden Forest that gave a Withering effect, that could mean it was a biom that was destroyed or highly damaged by the Wither and is recovering.

  9. It's a great update, but it would feel disappointing if the current snapshot is all we get. I think this is what most people are expecting to happen since this is only a small game drop.

  10. I think making it a whole biome is a bit weird, it could have been a single tree or two per forest maybe? also making it so the would can be dyed would be such an amazing addition

  11. I'm still holding out for a new structure in the Pale Garden, wherein the creaking (and maybe another new mob that actually has a useful drop(i've been dying for a new gunpowder/ender pearl level mob drop, wind charges are cool but not as quintessential as the aforementioned))) would be located no matter the time of day. Then there's opportunity for them to add new Trims, Sherds, Music Discs, etc. It seems to me they're implementing a lot of things that they can BUILD on in the future, so I wouldn't be surprised if trims/sherds/discs were attached to most updates from here on, and I definitely wouldn't be mad about it!

  12. They should probably switch to a 1.22.1.0 naming system and sell it hard if they want to stick with game drops going forward after the next major update. This way they can meaningfully distinguish bug updates from game drops and try to get more hype for a 1.22.1.0 as apposed to 1.21.1

  13. personally I like the smaller features being relegated to sub-versions (1.21.2, .3, etc.). It helps leave the distinction that the next proper version number is the one most people will want to be hyped for- in this case, 1.22, which will likely be revealed at the earlier Minecraft Live next year.
I can already hear Agnes' voice… "We hope you've all been enjoying the Winter Drop of last year with the Creaking and the Pale Garden" etc

  14. I think the pale garden is running into the problem a lot of small updates run into when being added to a game with a wide variety of playstyles: the person commenting has no use for it and decides that means everyone has no use for it.

  15. I think a huge part of the confusion surrounding the recent drop system has to do with the fact that Mojang hasn't really labeled any of the updates with a version number or even a name. I mean yeah sure the next drop is called Bundles of Bravery but what are we supposed to call the pale garden drop (other than pale garden drop)? It also doesn't help that Mojang didn't make it clear if these features were part of 1.22 or some 1.21.x versions. It just doesn't make much sense at the moment.

  16. What i dont like and honestly don't understand is. If these are smaller content releases.
That should mean they're smaller in size but not in scope. Right?

As many of the newer updates seem to be lacking depth or refinement. The focusing on 1 or 2 fearures should be great no?

But instead what did we got? Another half baked feature with no impact on the overall gameplay again.

Its not a new woodtype, a new generation, its a reskin. (Yes, they should've been new trees like the weeping wilows they referenced) Literal named pale oak. Another oak tree.

The mod perse doesn't even impact gameplay as if you're an early player with a low end computer. Theres no biome blending, you stay out. And if you're an end game player, the creeaking isn't even a factor.

As I said, many of the latest updates just feel inconsequential and disconnected to the overall game.

Why arent pots used for fluids! Ugh (and so many more)

    Also ffs add backpacks

  17. semi unrelated but i think they should rework creepers so they take maybe a second longer before exploding, and their explosion radius/damage is less. some blocks should be invulnerable to creeper explosion damage such as chests !

  18. The usual version scheme is Major.Minor.Patch.Build(1.21.1.0),
Patch versions should not have new features, only bug fixes.
Of course inventory management is a super big issue, that Mojang will have to address at some point. Backpacks or Danks could solve this, bundles just aren't going to cut it with their low count.

  19. I agree with what you said about the versioning system. Minor point releases should just be bug fixes. This is a serious problem for mods to try and keep track of. I don't care if the pale creaking or whatever doesn't have a ton of content, it should still be 1.22.0 to me. Point releases should always be bug fixes. It's really disconcerting when they introduce major gameplay changes at a point level.

I also agree that the creaking at night only is a serious problem on s&p servers. I think this could be resolved with a flag setting that servers or individuals could turn on or off. I already do this with the warden for example in my local server, because I just really don't want to deal with it. Most of the time; the people that play on my home server aren't interested, so we just nerf it. I think customizing servers in this way is absolutely the right path forward

  20. I definitely agree on reverting back to major releases as 1.X and bug fixes as 1.X.Y, and same with feature development in snapshots only. That, plus the "game drop" terminology (which I will never get used to) and the weird experimental toggles they've been reworking every other cycle, are extremely confusing to me. I would also like to add that major changes under the hood should be restricted to 1.X updates as well – otherwise, every minor update is a gamble for mod compatibility and creators are either rushing to fix it every few months or simply giving up.

  21. Someone suggested fog would make this new biome more interesting. I think the new biome is just missing a little more ambiance such as that. Think about it, the biome could be great for building Halloween themes if so.

  22. I'm sure they're probably using these "game-drops" as something to quell the Minecraft community as they continue to work on a larger update

(From seeing the warden and whatnot, Mojang seems to like to spend time on perfecting things before they even start displaying/releasing whatever feature they have planned next)

  23. The pale garden is fine. It's not something super game changing or anything. I am completely ok with them scaling back, and trying to make content more regular than in grand scale is completely fine. I just think there are a lot of things in the game that could use some updating, more than adding new content for the sake of new content. I think introducing more white textures is a great thing, BUT. I really think a LOT of us would like to see the End get some focus instead of the overworld. Honestly, though, they are still updating this game 15 years in, I don't think I have a lot of room to complain.

  24. While i appreciate anything new that mojang adds to the game, i feel like their time could be spent better(and fans would appreciate it more) if mojang went back and simply updated existing content. For example, adding the furnace minecarts to bedrock, overhauling the end dimension, giving mobs such as the sniffer and warden an actual use in the form of mob drops. They have actually done this in the form of FINALLY making minecarts faster, via a gamerule, but still. This is the type of content that the community has been asking for, for YEARS.

  25. Ok, but calling them something else doesn't make them not-updates lmao.

And lack of depth is always an issue with new content. I'm not upset about it though. but it's definitely a thing.

Just consider that they want to oush people into exploring, for some reason, even though people barely explore in Minecraft past getting resources. But theyve added very little to make exploring worth it. Exploring just offers you a new block color.

Think about the original progress from iron, to diamond, to going to the nether, to reaching the end, to raiding both of those places.

The deep dark gave us swift sneak…. Thats the reason to explore the deep dark. And exploring it is tedious as pissssssss. Not being able to see is just as bad as ice physics…

  26. I personally think they should move up to 2.X.X and use the restart of numbering to change the version numbering to Semantic versioning. First number increments for a major update, second for a minor update (content drop), and last number for a patch (bugfixes or rebalances).

  27. I dislike how Mojang is seemingly slow dripping us random ideas like every year we get a “new color wood”, and then next year people will applaud because Mojang added black wood or something

If I want more wood colors, I’ll install a mod. I think the mob is one of the coolest concepts I’ve seen, but so absolutely pointless

Make a small or big update, but still make it something that changes things, not just new mob and new wood

  28. To be fair, the major update numbering this would be an even worse PR disaster for these smaller game drops. For Java Edition, Bundles of Bravery's only real major feature will be bundles being officially added to survival, as it already has Hardcore mode. That is not enough to warrant giving it the 1.22 title, and then calling the Winter Drop 1.23.

  29. Whenever Agnes smiles she looks like such a mongoloid.

That, and Mojang legit thinks the community is gonna go wild for a new woodset and a mob that drops nothing. Holy fucking shit, what an awful fucking timeline.
