Could someone explain what each part of the layer texture means (right side, left side, from back ect.)

A tip for when you don’t know the structure of a texture. Put some colored dots on every part of the texture you are unsure about and then search that dot/dots ingame. Now you know where that part is.

Can be any pattern you want, just something you’ll easily spot.
