Spent the last few weeks of my limited playtime building up this custom Nether Portal in my survival world. There’s a regular sized portal off the the left in most of the screenshots for scale.
I had a vision of an oval portal that was once surrounded by huge derelict arches. Although I’ve never seen the show, I did take some inspiration from Stargate, and funnily enough the Cineplex logo. This was also a test into limited use of gradients for me, the green on the portal and red on the ground/platform.
My favourite detail turned out to be using redstone blocks to draw a six pointed glowing star in the ground around it, because, you know, *nether stuff.*
I added some lanterns, dripstone, buttons, and pots with dead bushes, etc. to fill out the surrounding area, but it still feels a bit empty. Any ideas to fill it out or help blend it out further into the world?

I think the netherack should replace the redstone, and maybe some fire.
