  1. calamity kinda sucks, its becoming rapidly more complicated while simultaneously babying the player every step of the way and its straying further and further from terraria
    if you play the easier difficulties, there is no challenge. if you play the harder difficulties, the bosses are so aggressively buffed that it makes them borderline rng unless you massively overprepare.

    people need to move away from the calamity mod, they are seen as the terraria mod which means that they dont need to do anything anymore, they just make the most complicated and non-terraria stuff, throw it into terraria, and then when it doesnt fit they just redo everything in terraria to make their non-terraria stuff fit

    now if we were talking older calamity then sure, old calamity from pre old duke was fantastic, it added so much to the game but it still inherently felt like terraria. but as the mod progresses, that terraria feel is being stripped away and the things that did feel like terraria get redone and reworked to feel less like terraria

    lets take the world gen for example, old calamity just added a few biomes and changed around the world gen a little bit. now theres a ton of new weird feeling structures, turrets that shoot you, and if you just place blocks to get to the chests and break the turrets you get some overpowered stuff. Within the first 25 minutes of a calamity run you can get a mount that lets you mine a 4 tall 300 block tunnel in less than a minute which ruins the entire point of mining/exploring caves in terraria.
    and when they had good world gen, they decided it wasnt good enough. lets take the sunken sea as an example, it is just a mini biome that spices up the desert and it fits with terraria, it feels like a natural expansion on terraria. same with the edges of hell, the new biomes fit very well with terraria. but because they needed to be more complicated, now there are labs in the new biomes, weird structures you dont understand, and if you loot these structures you get hardmode buffs and more lifeforce potions than you need, all in prehardmode.

    there are so many valid criticisms of calamity but defenders of it just ignore them, doesnt help that the developers silence any criticism they can.
