I have moved the save across multiple different unmodded profiles and the problem still persists, I'm stuck with old combat. I originally had the mod enabled with Better Combat, which I should've known it wouldn't work well with. Also had it running with this Sword Parry mod which added back the sword block.
I assume these mods aren't really conventional mods, and they roll back minecraft combat for the specific save (which I've tested). Don't really know what to do here :/
