  1. Could you maybe give us a actual screenshot instead of this photograph?

Edit: And maybe not obscure the problem with a circle?

Edit edit: For one, where are you even adding this new dust?

  2. OP, like u/deskbug said, use a repeater. I’d encourage you to look up some YouTube videos on redstone basics, as the issue you’re encountering likely indicates your skill level with redstone is very limited (beginner range). This means that there’s probably a good chance you’ll also have struggles with other beginner redstone mechanics.

For this specific setup, it appears that you’re moving the lever one block further to the left in the second pic and adding a dust. From roughly counting the dust in the first pic, the dust length (number of blocks of redstone dust between the lever and the block with the redstone torch on it) is 15. Redstone dust has a maximum distance of 15 blocks before it reaches a power strength of 0 (aka turns off). Before then (in this case), you’ll need to restrengthen the signal (hence placing a repeater as this is one of the main purposes of a repeater).

If you want the lever in the location of the second picture, add a repeater more or less anywhere along the dust line, and ensure it’s pointing in the right direction (the front tiny torch that cannot be moved by right clicking on it should be on the side you want the power to go out of)
