I can’t for the life of me catch this damn fish. Has anyone succeeded? And if so, is it worth the hassle? (Price-wise). I always get seaweeds, broken glasses, etc. I get a hit! like once every 15 throws. It’s really frustrating, the fish is just too fast.

Try using trap bobber, it really helps with lava eels. Also, I think the chance of hooking lava eel is ~5%, so it’s not the best fishing spot in terms of money although the fish itself is really valuable. I usually catch 1-2 fish here and put them in the fish pond
I ate a fish boosting meal and went on a really good luck day and caught one really quickly. Put in into a fish pond.
I think I’ve had the most success using the curiosity lure and a decent fishing buff meal for the mine fish.
It’s one of the best fish pond fish. So it’s worth it to catch, but I wouldn’t worry about trying to get more than one or two.
