Began playing with my 7yo step daughter and figured I’d get it on my phone to learn a thing or two to really dig into this game so we can have real fun together (Figured it would be easier than teaching her how to play WoW or Souls games lol)

I never understood the hype aside from creating vast worlds and structures…until I started my first play in Survival mode. Now I’m 8x dead, cowering in a mountainside, waiting for daylight, and planning on how I’ll find coal for torches in the 10min I have until nightfall. My first night was a rough one, guys.

Fun extra bit, thought I’d carve out a space for me to be safe and take my time crafting the things I’ll need until I get a good secure dig to run back to and THATS when I learned that mobs DO spawn anywhere without appropriate light level or floor tile, including right behind you while you watch the door for daylight.

  1. Niiice. “Best dad” vibes from you, bro. Keep it up!

I’m 34 and had a blast with my 8th grade students this last summer vacations on a Realm I made with them. They are asking for more, but I told them they have to wait until Christmas vacations.

32 as well! I’ve been playing since 2011ish? It’s fantastic. Welcome to the game and community

  3. 43 but same! Did creative mode with the kids because why not, then about a month ago tried survival for the first time and became hooked. I’ve also learned it’s a good game to try yourself, but don’t hesitate to check the internet for help. You can discover everything yourself, but it can be a bit overwhelming, sometimes it’s good to check online to see how to farm or create a resource.

    Happy mining!

  4. So I’ve played it for about 12 years. I baby sat for a friend a few years ago and got on Minecraft with them. Realized just how little it takes to make them happy. Here I am building massive 1-2 yr projects and playing hardcore for years now, and they are excited about meeting a cow. Good times. Can’t wait to intruduce my little girl to my favorite game.

Your 7 year-old learning to play Dark Souls would be very entertaining to watch!

I’m 27 and still can’t figure that shit out!
