  1. Okay I have a story around this hold on. Let me tell you, I've been trying to get into Stardew Valley for years now. And I just couldn't. Everytime I start up a new save, I freeze. I don't know what to do. I end up not making money, and having my entire farm still be a mess. Part of stardew's(and Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons!!) problem for me is the time based of it all. you can't visit the blacksmith after 4PM and you also won't be able to complete a collection at the community centre if you didn't plan and time out your harvest well that ingame season. I don't think Stardew is a cozy game nor is it easy or relaxing for me at all. It's all overwhelming and I find it a lot. Fields of Mistria solved this issue. The heart events are announced through mail, and you can complete collections at the museum year round. you can also visit shops when the NPC isn't there. It made playing a farming sim so much more relaxing. The crafting system is also so much better because you craft and smelt things yourself! it takes like a second real time and you can even reduce the time spent in game hours with the dragon statue. Fields of Mistria is the first farming sim game I was able to enjoy.

  2. I'm sorry but people who say this game is just a Stardew clone, haven't played another farming sim. This game is more similar to harvest moon the tale of two towns than to Stardew. Fields of mistria is really good and it's obviously made by someone who has played many farming sims and wanted to make the most of it. It's clear to me that it's made with a lot of dedication and love.

  3. gonna be honest, never got the hype of stardew valley but after playing fields of mistria, now i understand lol i guess its bc of the anime style of the characters that i liked and the fantasy aspect to it

  4. Theres some small QoL things I like. Items don't disappear when left on the ground. You can craft with items in chests without having to carry them. The realistic daily ways to get stamina back like the soup and bath. I prefer the lineal, incremental town changes in Mistria over Stardew Valley's community center. I always feel rushed to finish the CC year one because so many mechanics are tied to it.

  5. I agree with how the world feels so alive in Mistria. It reminds me of Rune Factory (4 especially). That's what makes me prefer Mistria over SDV.

  6. I will say, I don’t feel as if I can explore the whole map in FoM just bc the days are too short! Or maybe the map is too big, either way I’d like to be able to adjust the day length. Loving the game though

  7. Stardew was also built by a single person ❤ I feel like you have a really solid vid and opinion 😊 I’m excited to see where the team takes this game

  8. I normally don't do EA games but after seeing so much praise for it I'm so glad I picked it up. I've put in about 50 hrs so far into FoM and I'm loving it, it feels alive and I like the little qol it has compared to SDV. I did enjoy SDV but this just has something extra to it

  9. Fields of Mistria and NPC Studios are also headed by the people who made Pusheen, so that's why it feels so polished for an early access game. It does give me hope they're not going to cut and run with early access, because I think they're set in funding and staff in a way a lot of indie game companies or groups could never hope to be. I also finished my first year, and I'm really looking forward to each big update until the game launches.

  10. the thing that got me bored from stardew quickly was that it's developer still had that classic games attachment, it's first year was great but then quickly became a chore of same time wasting stuff everyday but looks like fields of misteria is more modernized and respect player's time better so I can't wait for more content specially memorable festivals and more combat and mine stuff whether mechanics or mysterious stuff.

  11. I have around 280 hours in Stardew Valley (I know it's not much compared to most players). And I believe Fields of Mistria CAN be bigger than SV if they keep improving the game as they add new features

  12. It's so nice that you can craft without having the materials on your person. As long as the materials are in a chest somewhere you can craft. The only thing they need to do is make the day 20 minutes long.

  13. i think so too. and this is coming from a die heart stardew fan that has an insane amount of hours in stardew valley… fields of mistria is my dream game.
