I tried one just for kicks and it worked. There was just gobs and gobs of annoying advertising and offers to “upgrade.” Whether they work or not, you don’t need them. Diamond and even netherite aren’t that hard to get and with villager trading you don’t even need them for armor.

I believe in it, but also believe that it would take 999999999 ads to get 3 diamonds so I’m not going to use it

those look like they were filmed before caves and cliffs possibly, so no. it’s really easy to find diamonds now anyways so if you can’t find them it’s most likely a skill issue.
