There’s a revolution going on with Minecraft capes in 2024. You see, capes used to be an exceedingly rare thing to obtain for your account. Up until 2016, the only capes the general public could obtain were the MineCon capes. From 2021 until 2023, a few additional capes were added that were pretty easy to get. But the newest cape added in 2024 flips the script, and is honestly quite difficult to get, relatively speaking. The MCC cape. Let’s talk about the implementation of this Minecraft cape, and what it means for the future of obtaining Minecraft capes!

I just learned I have a 2nd cape other than the Migrator cape. I didn't even pay for the Bedrock edition lmao. I was gifted the Minecraft for Windows 10 edition for owning Java edition already. Then eventually that become Bedrock and then I migrated my account owning both. What a crazy journey.
The recent mcc bedrock event that gave the cape, I completely finished it but because of a bug on my main account, only my second account could get it, something is preventing my main account from joining multiplayer, it’s not parental controls and I can’t even see what’s wrong with the settings because I can’t open them.
I don't really want to say this because there's a lot of shame in being scammed but I love minecraft and a few years ago I wanted to buy an account with a cape. I obviously got scammed and that sucks obviously shouldn't have done it etc, but I do think this is a really clever way for Mojang to cut down on the cape blackmarket if you can get capes other ways. Obviously not as cool and doesn't have the same OG status but its something and who knows maybe in 10 years the MCC cape will mean something like minecon capes
I do like it that they r doing capes for peeps who didnt go to those event but imo the recent mcc one is trash as im not a mcc fan 😑 but good for peeps who do like it 🙂
I’d like for some capes to be for certain types of players. MCC already represents the parkour, PVP etc. but there are other communities that could have capes of their own. Maybe HermitCraft capes. I’d also like A cape for the group I’m in, Discontinued Features. Maybe one for Lost Media Searchers. List goes on quite a bit.
I literally can't open bedrock edition on my device, I'm forced to miss out on the cape because the system simply doesn't let me in.
It'd be less of a problem if the cape is not available on java to begin with… But since it IS, it'd be more fair to be able to obtain the cape in a java server too.

For the longest time, the idea of having a cape in general was something, and with how little ammount of people had them, the risk of owning one was very high, with people attempting to hack you just for owning it. Nowdays, the idea of having a cape is no longer a dangerous thing anymore, but now we have a new thing, owning a RARE cape instead, which is imho, much more healthy thing, the value of the cape is still great, because once the time runs out to get one, you can't get it anymore, so being an exclussive item remains, and the minecon capes are still very valuable, but now many players won't go their way to hack or buy the hacked accounts, just to own a cape.

I would need them to also port minecraft dungeons capes to java and bedrock, it'd be awesome. Prism cape in real minecraft🥺

The vanilla cape i never got what a shame i got it from 2013 the game i even migrated correctly
I wish I had the gold founders cape. I had no clue I could get it at the time so I never got it. Same with the pride cape. Every other cape since then that it has been possible to earn I got.
honestly, the only capes that are truly rare is the Minecon capes and the bedrock Founders Cape
It's funny i still get like five emails a month of people wanting me to sell my translator cape. Probably the worst offender was someone saying "You're cool, we won't hack your account." At least now there's 2FA on accounts, even if you gotta have a microsoft account.

I like the new capes! The last Minecon happened when I was 16 lol I never even had a chance to get one, always felt like I missed out. I think they should do more limited-time capes (or maybe just bring minecon back)
