In the shader options, go to lighting and there will be an option to “fix cave lighting”.

scp fans raging rn ( aka me ) bc scp 106 doesent go trough walls in this mod, spc 096 doesent run fast, every mod is killable.

I think the reason the Old man's pocket dimension just sends you to the void is because maybe the dimension stops generating past a certain Y coordinate, and since you're in the deepslate layer, it doesn't have anything generated in the dimension at that levels and just puts you in the void because of it. Maybe try going to the pocket dimension on the overworld surface (if the Old man is able to spawn up there)
