Add pillars if you want to keep the open space as a whole to make like they are required for structural integrity. Or instead add walls to divide into rooms.

    Add Windows for “natural light”.

Add some chests or bookshelfs against the walls to add some functionality.

Add other blocks to resemble other furniture.

Take a look at your irl home and look at what catches your eyes when you step into each room, those will probably be the important things to add to make your house a home I’d say.

You need to make rooms first, and probably a floor/mezzanine to avoid the giant roof effect.
Try to find a function for your rooms, a bedroom, a kitchen, a workshop etc… That will give you a more “organic” building.

Add structure, like pillars, neaten that roof or add a ceiling, create rooms that have a role to them like a bedroom, that way it’s more manageable to design an interior, think of it as how many rooms can you fit in that house

I use to have this same problem. Try building a house but do the inside first. Build one block high of the whole layout. Start at the front door, then map out the first room size, for me this is a couch area and kitchen. Figure out where your next rooms branch off from. Map out rooms for enchanting, chest storage, portal, bedrooms, etc. Also figure out where your stairs are going to be if you want multiple floors. Then build the walls and make the outside look pretty after.
