There’s something VERY wrong with the dog in the new Minecraft key art…

this will be explained in a moment anyway hi why am I still this skin by the way I’m going to do a Minecrafter at the end of this video because I promised I’d do something on stream and I forgot Minecraft released a new key art and as all key Arts it is a render which is meant to be representative of the current state of the game so if you look at it you’ve got a lot of the new things sniffer in the background cave update aelott inside of mineart all the biome variations and of course wolf armor now as per the last last time I did this I examined the key art and found out that the dog in that keyart is just a little bit big how big 3 and 1/2 times bigger and that’s because there is no way in heck this dog can stretch from this side of the block to this side of the block without being just a little bit bigger than it should be people seem to forget dogs are kind of small and I will show you just how small they are dogs are this small yeah they fit within the tiniest block space they’re about half this definitely half the size of the player so I have an armor stand here now this is representative of the new kot which I’ll get into in a second if I just make him not sit that’s as far as it’ll go the legs don’t exceed the length of one block space we are applying Pythagoras here the dark here is 3.77 M long do you know how long that is pretty long okay very old video of mine we did not have to bring that back but unfortunately we are bringing that back because potato man sent me this thing hey Phoenix fun fact in the new key art the Sheep is huge and once again the dog it’s almost as big as the player oh dear and that sheep what the heck I do understand there’s a perspective involved in it to make it look a little more prominent in the image but that is a very very big dog now that is why I built this I I’m not building the entire thing for this one because it’s just way too much but I did rebuild that segment in question here so here’s the dog and that’s the guy who’s about to chop down the tree now the question here is can the guy reach the tree I don’t know nope clearly the dog is of actual size I didn’t modify it with an attribute command doesn’t stretch across the diagonal plane now it might not seem like this is what it is but in the render it doesn’t appear this way simply because of the stretched field of vision I don’t know whether you believe it but the distance from here to here is actually one block not two it’s one block which is clearly in contrast to this length that’s one block it’s stretched immensely so the illusion it provides is that this dog is of regular size no it’s not pay attention to the feet this dog is sitting at the back of this puzzle block and is suddenly stretched out if I had to guess this dog is probably four times the size of a regular Minecraft dog which does make sense because this dog if you just look really closely is about the same size as the player the game actually provides you the ability to scale the mob now so once again we’ve got the character here and this is what the dog would have looked like if it was normal alas it is not normal you guys ready for this you might be surprised transform that is the size of the actual dog in the key art don’t believe me check out the feet the feet stretch from the back of the block to about the front of the second block this is the actual size they have drawn in which is about identical to what it looks like in the key art just to add a bit more visual Pizzaz they have decided to do this a second time so yes you can see that it does scale up to the player Dude Looks like he’s about to Chainsaw Massacre the dog and yes this is four times the size they made dogs four times bigger it’s a real canundrum guess the crafting recipe all right we’re going to throw in a piston here first okay so there are no wood planks no Cobblestone no iron ingot and no Redstone in this recipe all right what about a campfire daylight sensor glass quartz here all right there’s quartz is it a comparator yay

  1. The dog in the last one was wrong, not because it was too big, but because it was levitating close to the camera (dogs do not fly)
The new one is simply too big xD

  2. I really wish that Minecraftle website would get updated. The concept is cool, but wouldn't it be awesome if the 18 items you got to work with were randomly picked from the Creative inventory and you could have so many more recipes implemented?

  3. 2:30 Pretty sure that's still two blocks. I get it's at an angle but if you look at the blocks right underneath them at the same angle you can see they're much shorter than the supposed two block distance.

Also you didn't note the the player in the key art next to the dog is also larger than they should be, meaning that the in-game comparison isn't entirely accurate to the art even with the dog scaled up, since the armor stand is still player-sized.

  4. I'm so amazed, I've also played Minecraftle quite a bit, and piston -> campfire -> daylight detector is my most common start as well (there's not many good choices, but it's cool to see that different minecrafters think alike)

  5. I do have to claim that there is an issue here: the Steve is also larger in the image than they should be. Your irl representation makes it look even more exaggerated. The artist image doesn’t look as bad just because they’re both scaled to some extent (both heads should be about the same size).
