As someone who hasn’t played Stardew in a hot second, the 1.6 update drew me back. I’ve always liked fishing in this game (yes I know it’s annoying sometimes), but just accepted it as a side quest in comparison to my crops. So when I found out about fish smokers I tried it. Felt amazing. I then tried bait maker, even more busted. I then tried it with the Lava eel bait on top of the volcano and OMG wtf is this cash.

Over 100k gold a day JUST from lava eels, with one fish stew, one quality bobber, and lava eel bait.

Needless to say I will be farming a bit less now.

Wow I didn’t know you could make so much money off of fishing! I usually focus more on artisan goods for money but I definitely need to work on my fishing! Thank you for sharing!

  2. Awesome!

But still, I think farming has a good niche (if not the biggest chunk of the game) for being low-stress and dependable and scaling nicely with upgraded tools and equipment. If some of the features of mods like automate were added to the game so you don’t click 100 kegs, then it would certainly win.

Might be a bit silly fun to play a game where I never use resources to make a sprinkler or use the watering can.

  3. I love fishing too. Great way to earn cash. But agreed, I think you stumbled on a winning combination!!! Thanks for sharing the tip! <3

  4. It’s lucrative and neat to have the option. But, it’s grindy and I try to stay away from grindy. I do like that fishing scales into the later part of the game. After hitting 10 fishing there was no compelling reason to keep fishing unless it was for something specific. Money wise it just fell off hard compared to other activities.

  5. Some people take the Extended Family quest, and just go after the Legend II. As long as you don’t complete the quest, you can keep catching Legend II fish. They smoke them and sell then, as well as process any roe they get, and make crazy amounts of money.
