I don’t think it’s necessary. The only ones whose storylines are really romance-locked is Leah with her ex and Maru with her robot. Maybe Sebastian’s thing about going to the city too.

It’s still a video game and it’s adding a layer or replayability, so imo leave it as is
[Platonic Partners and Friendships](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/8146) which allows you to determine what sort of relationship you would like. You can choose to keep them all romantic or you can toggle everyone to be platonic except the character you plan on marrying. It tweeks the non romance ones to be not romantic.
[Platonic Relationships](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/4668) allows you to see all 10 heart events without giving a bouquet to anybody. You still need to give them a bouquet of you want to change your relationship status with someone.
You can play with all three mods at once. I do, it works great for what you’re looking for.

I’d like it if your chosen spouse doesn’t just give up on their dreams for the farm life. I always wait until the 3rd year to pick someone. I know there’s probably a mod for that.

Yeah there’s mods however sometimes the developers stop working on them so won’t work on newer versions
