I think you should put regular clear glass where some of the explosion is as if the heat from the laser has crystallized the sand into glass

Thin out the glass
I love the design though reducing the number of glass might serve to be better, though it all comes down to personal preference. If you like colorful builds they might prefer the glass explosion, on the other hand I actually like the scorch mark better. But I do agree that the glass explosion gives it a more sci-fi look. Whatever you do it looks great

Hopefully scar manages to get back without dying or teleporting but an adventure, I feel like the content would be worth it

Regarding the laser scar (pun intended), the laser would superheat the sand and stone. So if you incorporate magma blocks at the base of the scar in the terrain and some in the air (plus obsidian – formed from rapid cooling of molten rock) you'll be able to highlight the destructive power of the Death Star without needing so much glass which hides the amazing crater 🙂

Definitely thin out the glass; less is more.
The extra glass is not necessary, but it is nice, why not just make the scorched hole bigger

Maybe less glass in the explosion, and reach out to whomever has the Blackstone and/or Deepslate Permits to build a shop down there?
